My daughter, myself and a couple of my friends traveled to Berkeley for a book signing and a little retail therapy. The hotel was very nice. I take medication that needed to be refrigerated and they we great about bringing a fridge to our room. Beds were comfy, room was clean and the location is beautiful. Right on the water! Our TV had volume and no […] picture so we called and they sent someone up right away to fix it. It happened and second time after returning to the room later so we just shut it off instead of calling again. The check out clerk gave us extra chocolate chip cookies to make up for the TV error. I had a medical emergency and the hotel manager would not budge on the cancellation policy. We understand the need for such a policy, however, they didn't even offer an exchange for another night. In this economy people can not afford to just throw money like that away, and the hotel profits from renting it out anyway.

We absolutely love the location of this hotel but the STAFF is what makes it a place we enjoy coming back to over and over again.

My husband and I went there for our 10 year anniversary. We had a great time. The Hotel Staff was very nice and friendly. Quick check in and check out. Room was clean beds were comfy! We are definately coming back!

Attractive hotel on the Marina-a very picturesque setting.Rooms were quite comfortable,and enjoyed the omelettes,etc.at the buffet breakfast[None of this is cheap,however].The hotel is not near City Center or the Campus,but free shuttles are available on the hour.These are also convenient to take the BART into San Francisco.A minor complaint [since […] I did eventually get a marina-view room which was pre-paid]-Worker at reception told me at first,these rooms were sold.Showing her proof of purchase solved the problem.I would recommend this hotel.Finally,great thanks to the concierge who spent much time booking a trip to the giant redwoods in Muir Woods for my brother and me! Great rooms and location for traveling the bay area or boating on the Bay. If you can afford it spend the extra $ and get a water front balcony. Pool and hot tub were nice after a day on the water. Find another place to eat beside the hotel. Food and service not great.

Not the most convenient hotel, but during Oracle week, the price was right. Unfortunately, they did not have their shuttle service worked out, and didn't even have cabs readily available when many guests were trying to get out in the morning. It took me two hours to get to a client at Embarcadero, which should have been a 40 minute trip. View was nice, […] staff was nice, they need to do better with the shuttle service to the BART, and if they know they are going to have a morning rush and not be able to handle all of their customers, they need to make cabs available. Not a lot of dining options, and even the area around the BART station (North Berkeley) is residential and didn't have any convenient restaurants. Leer más

We had a very lovely marina view room with a patio which we utilized every evening. The patio table was a bit small for a take out dinner but we managed. The hotel staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was very good. But I got poisoned at breakfast because I need gluten free food and although my server seemed to understand, later […] on I became symptomatic. I asked for the chef and he told me that they drain the bacon on bread, so that was the probable cause. He was very helpful though and assisted me in choosing gluten free selections which he said he would personally prepare. It was fine from then on. The setting is very nice and very quiet and peaceful for a hotel in the city of Berkeley. We attended the sailing school there so the location was ideal. Clean, well-maintained, courteous service. Attended a wedding reception in the Berkeley marina, and this hotel location was perfect - we were able to walk to and from the event. Only paid a premium of about $10 to stay here over other hotels in the general area. They've got a funny tradition of giving you a warm chocolate chip cookie when you check in, but I won't begrudge a cookie. If youre looking for easy access, I'd recommend hotels across the way in Emeryville....easy access to the freeway. The Doubletree is deeper in the Berkeley Marina. Although beautifully sourrounded by water, there are no restaurants, etc, too close by. Staff can be a little more careful though....We checked in and walked to our room and as we opened […] the door, like the story of the Three Little Bears, noticed that there was a couple sleeping in our bed!!! We waited about 20 minutes for staff to assist us with another room and finally got two double beds (instead of the King with the Marina view we had pad extra for!) This hotel was perfect. Great views, amazing service and very clean. The hotel us right near a park with a great oath with views for running or walking. My entire ecperience was exteaordinary!!! On the first night my fiancé who had been up sine 4 am went down to the little gift shop to get some Starbucks coffee. The shop was closed but a nice reservation […] clerk went snd got him a coffee and gave him another "Doubletree" chocolate chip cookie. Staff was very helpful.

came there to spend the night but the family with kid next door woke me up at 5:15 sunday morning! so hotel personel does not pay any attention to provide customers with privacy. there is no insulation between rooms or anywhere so it is very noisy all night long so if you want a good night sleep, this is not the place to stay!

Bed is not comfortable makes you have a back ache and neck pain. Pillow are also not comfortable

Was unable to get a king-size bed, even though I had requested early arrival- and our room was a long way from the diningroom and front desk--

Chose this hotel b/c the rate was good and it was outside of SFO. Every staff member I spoke with was very accommodating and knowledgeable. I spent a week here with my parents for a family vacation. Parking is free and plentiful. You can walk along the marina to the the ocean and find some great walking trails right along the ocean. Convenient, excellent service, clean and attractive. Rooms were small, but very comfortable.

We selected this hotel due to its proximity to San Francisco without the hassle of parking and the out of sight prices for San Francisco hotels. The hotel provided a convenient shuttle to BART which we used daily. With its bay and marina views the scenery was very pleasant and the grounds are impeccably maintained. The only down side I would have to […] say was the mold issue in the bathtub surround. The tile installation had a 1/4 inch grout line which makes it next to impossible to keep mold free. It looked like it was recent work and should have had a very thin grout line. I would have made the installer rip it out and redo it considering that they went to the expense of putting in granite counter tops for the bath sinks. Leer más

The stay was great; the people were all super friendly here. Location was close to SF and the bay bridge. The price was half of a SF proper city stay and a just quick dash over the bridge to SF. We had dinner in Berkeley; there are lots of interesting spots and the town has a funky (good) feel. We will be back again.

I stayed in this hotel because of the location in 15 minutes I can be in downtown SF but the hotel layout is terrible. It takes you10 mitues from the room to the lobby all the bending machines don't have any water and the other drinks are past due expiration. The restaurant is overpriced and the service sucks. Peaceful location right on the Bay, just across the street from Cesar Chavez Park which offers great walking paths and lovely views of the Bay and the Oakland hills (and a kite truck on weekends, if you want to buy and fly a kite on the rolling hills of the park). An easy, 5-minute drive to Berkeley and Emeryville and 10 minutes to Oakland. They've changed. I ordered a meal in room, meal only not even a drink or dessert, and total was 40% higher than any meal I'd ordered last quarter I was here. I was not told the price of meal when ordering, and it is not on the menu yet, so total was a shock. Movies are also suddenly nearly doubled since my last visit a few months ago. Since this is […] an old hotel, with many rooms still having slanted floors under the new carpet so you can't even walk evenly in your room, and since customer service varies per employee (a lot of 'attitude' here, sneering tone of voice & defensiveness from some, not all, staff): I think their new policy of pricey extras is not in alignment with the reality of who they are. This hotel was chosen because it was convenient for San Francisco but in a quieter location. The hotel proved to be very good, staff were extremely helpful and the accommodation was excellent.

I have stayed at this property twice. The second stay placed me on the third floor of building 3. When I walked into my room, I started gaining speed as I approached the window. I felt as if I was on a hill. I asked about the situation at the front desk and they admitted that the building was no longer level but assured me it was safe. Perhaps, but […] it was very difficult to spend three nights in a room where my things were sliding off the dresser and I was concerned that I would slide out of bed at night. If I were running this hotel, I would let people know what to expect and I would not charge full price for these rooms. I can only imagine where I would have been if the "big earthquake" had picked that moment to explode. It is also very difficult to get everything into the room because they have a limited amount of luggage carts and parking is a long distance from the rooms. The road out of the marina is the bumpiest road ever. It has railroad ties under the asphalt and you feel as if you are driving on a railroad track. This place needs to either charge less per night, or upgrade and charge more. It's a nice setting, the staff were great and the bed was fantastic to sleep in but that's overshadowed by the inconveniences. If you decide to stay here, be prepared. Leer más

This place is clean, quiet, really convenient and the staff is fantastic. I left something in my room when I checked out, and the housekeeping staff had the item and returned it to me in great shape. Just added to my great feelings for this place.

This Hotel was in a beautiful area on the Marina. I felt safe and comfortable. Very close to North Berkley Bart station where there is free parking on the weekends. Will use again on my trip back to the bay area.

My reservation was for a room with a balcony. Why in the heck was the so call balcony a ledge. I was moved three times before it was corrected and then the patio/balcony had no table or chairs to enjoy it; by that time I had no more fight in me to go to the front desk again :-(

Great hotel, very professional staff. Good location to Berkley, Bay Bridge, San Francisco. Beautiful view of the bay.

Internet service was down and was never working during my stay. This was not good because I needed internet access.

Had a room with a great marina view, right on walking path. Very friendly staff. Less expensive breakfast would be nice. No fridge in room was inconvenient.

First the Good: 1. Great location. Closeby to everything (shopping, movie theaters, restaurants, etc). Good stopby place to visit UC Berkeley. 2. Taking a walk along the marina was awesome. Nice view, fresh air, July 4th activities were fun. 3. Chocolate chip cookies were warm welcome. Classical of DoubleTree. Kids were screaming for food... this […] calmed them down... :) Now the Bad: 1. They have 2 pools: One for adult only and one general public pool that is TINY (prolly fit 8 people standing in one place... let alone swimming). Definitly not kids friendly. 2. Wireless internet access in room was virtually impossible (ie. ZERO bar). They charge you for wired access. If I was not Hilton Honnor member I would have to pay. Why is it that cheaper hotels provides free internet and more expensive hotels charge? 3. Buffet dinner price was high and was basically BBQ theme... I could have a nice steak dinner for that much. 4. Oh and we picked the marina view room with balcony with the intention of seeing the fireworks. We DID. Saw the fireworks at 45 degree (right side) and it was small like an orange. This is not of the hotel's fault but if you expect nice firework views this is NOT. Leer más
