The hotel was located in a very convenient area of the city--Downtown close to Old Montreal, The Plateau, and other sights. There are also two of the city bike rental hot spots within a block of the hotel, which we used to get everywhere! The room was very clean and comfortable, bathroom was a bit older but very well maintained. All in all I very much […] liked the hotel. My only complaint would be the lobby experience---it was consistently packed with tour groups and wedding parties, and had long lines for the front desk and concierge. I prefer a more intimate, quiet, less tour-groupy atmosphere. But the room was a lovely quiet escape from that. On the day of check in, we arrived about 5-6 hours before 4pm check in, and they placed us on "priority wait list" to check in early. However, the room still wasn't ready until just after 4pm. But, on the final day, they did extend check out from 10am until 2pm at my request for no charge, so that more than made up for it to me. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Montreal. Leer más

It is somehow expensive with old furniture in the room

The service exceeded our expectations including the ability to check in early, the concierge service and the bellman service. We loved it's central location and the pampered feeling we received. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

All the staff at every level were friendly, confident and helpful. As an Anglophone, I was expecting a difficulty in communication, but that never arose.

The best thing about the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Gold floor is the lounge. There is an excellent buffet breakfast featuring smoked salmon and other goodies, and wonderful hors d'oeuvres in the evening between 5pm and 7pm which you can enjoy with your glass of wine while settled into a comfortable chair with light classical music or jazz in the background. […] In between, various treats are provided so that you are never likely to starve. The service is always warm and welcoming, and the location is ideal if you are arriving by train: the Gare Centrale is immediately beneath the hotel (but you will not hear any train noise at all). Room way too small for a king size bed. Very disappointed after previous stays with larger airier rooms. Housekeeping didn't do our room at all until we had to ask in the evening when going out for dinner.the montrealais restaurant brunch/breakfast buffet was as always wonderful.

We stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in late March for an extended hockey weekend/birthday trip and were very pleased with the experience. Despite her age, the hotel is still a classic and updates throughout make it nicer than some reviews here indicated. The staff were very helpful and the food stalls in the train station beneath were great for […] a quick snack out of the wind. Our only "issue" was the rather exorbitant price of parking. It was a good stay overall. I have stayed here before, but the valet at check-in was confusing and frustrating. We pulled in front on rene levesque at 3pm on a thursday. We were told to immediately move, even though there was a sign stating we had 15 minutes to unload. I was told to pull around the building in rush-hour traffic to a side street to have […] my car valet-parked. I did so (taking 15 minutes), only to sit for 10 minutes and then told to garage the car myself as the valet staff was overwhelmed. Several people right behind me were told the same thing. Around the building again. . .At check in, after a brief and rather insincere statement of apology, we waited 20 minutes in our room for our bags to be brought up. Went for a Saturday and Sunday night stay. Good location and the health club is nice and free of charge unlike many hotels in the US. The Gibson spa was also nice and conveniently located. I thought the room was small but comfortable. The others we were travelling with had a better view. It was still a little pricey but worth the treat.

the hotel Reine Elizabeth is up the central train station in Montréal,very centre from down town easy to walk every streets around.

It is so nice to arrive at a hotel where everything is as it should be-no need to ask for anything. The staff at the front desk as well as the cleaning people could not be any friendlier and helpful.We only stay here when we are in Montreal-we have tried others and have been greatly dissatisfied.

The Pros: Great location and overall nice hotel. The lobby bar is a nice place for late night drink. Beautiful sitting area in the lobby as well. Direct access to underground shopping mall. It was a very nice hotel we were just expecting a larger room and a king sized mattress instead of the queen. On the plus side though it puts you very close to a lot of the popular areas in downtown and is very easy to find. The concierge was not extremely helpful. The location was great but was disappointed with the size of the room for the cost. Staff very helpful and courteous.

They put me in an extremely small room with a tiny window, right beside hug service elevator, cleaning stuff loud and noise. Reception says that is the Moderate Room booked through Expedia.ca. Incredible, because the hotel is early empty. On protest, upgrated to a Fairmound room. But no in-room safe. I came in snow, windy and icy cold. But NO heating […] in room. Airconditioning is NOT on and flows cold air vantilation. Reception replied in English: "Sir, you have put the temporature too high, we want to against global warming". A technician shows up in 10 minutes and confirmed that the heating is shut by the system, checkin should send a signal to the system to turn it on but it did not. Enjoy fun at FQE! Leer más

I love staying in the Fairmont hotels associated with old railway properties. They manage to retain the subdued elegance and civility of travel evocative of the days when rail travel was king. The co-location of hotels and train stations enables a very easy and convenient trip. The Queen Elizabeth's proximity to prime downtown shopping and eateries […] cannot be beat. We found the staff to be helpful and friendly; the concierge helped with restaurant recommendations and reservations and movie showings along with suggestions for activities. We ate the beautiful buffet breakfast everyday; although it was pricey, kids were half price. The location was near shopping but the restaurants were more geared for business and […] cost more. The hotel experience was excellent...very customer oriented and professional. They gave us excellent information concerning travel to and from the airport via the 747 bus. You can access Place Ville Marie via interior corridors, which makes shopping and eating outside of the hotel extremely easy. I always enjoy my stays at the Queen Elizabeth. The hotel is located in downtown Montreal with great access to all city has to offer. We had dinner at the Beaver Club and it was arguably one of our best meals ever in Canada. The exercise facilities are far better than in most hotels. My room was impeccable and the service was very attentive. no negative comments whatsoever.

Location of the hotel is excellent, in the heart of downtown Montreal. Service was excellent, with a staff who were both friendly and efficient. However, the elegance and lustre of the Queen Elizabeth -- which traditionally has been an iconic hotel in Montreal -- has clearly faded, and it really doesn't live up to that billing anymore. Whereas most […] newer hotels in the similar competition range have a crisper, cleaner look, and spacious king beds, a large portion of the rooms at the Queen Elizabeth have only a queen-sized bed. Despite having a reservation for a king-sized bed, it was unavailable upon check-in. The lobby, hallways and rooms themselves are not decrepid, but have the appearance of being reasonably well-kept and cleaned, but simply being worn. While it wasn't an unenjoyable stay, it was in no way exceptional, and I'd certainly look at some of the other newer, more modern hotels before returning. Leer más

Very courteous staff. Entire experience at The Queen Elizabeth Hotel was wonderful. Cleam room and comfortable bed. Convenient to all downtown attractions, shops and restaurants. Short walk to Bell Centre. Old city a short metro ride away. Valet parking is not outrageous comparing to other downtown metros (NYC, DC, etc.). Great hotel, nice amenities, very helpful staff from front desk folks to the housekeepers. Minor issues with room lamp, tv remote, elevator noise. Hotel responded promptly to issues. Montreal is an expensive city, and the hotel was pricey as well, but the great rate we got through hotels.com helped. This place is worth it.

I highly recommend this hotel, especially at the Hotels.com rate. I was concerned when I made the booking that the room would be too small, but it was perfectly fine for two people for a few days. I lived in Montreal for two years in the 70s and I promised myself that some day I would stay at the fabulous Queen Elizabeth Hotel! My husband and I stayed there last week, and we were not disappointed. Thanks for a memorable stay!

Great location for walking to old town and accessing the subway. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were bumped up to Gold status due to being overbooked and had a fabulous room with windows overlooking the rivier on one side and the city on the other. The Fairmont Montreal is in a great location and the staff are helpful and friendly. That said, the check-in process was a mess, the room I had reserved was not available, and there was some question of whether any room would be available at all (I was offered a strange room with "no bed but a pull out couch"). Old food from other people's room service […] breakfast sat out the entire day, adding to the smell of the hallway on the smoking floor (I had requested non-smoking). The walls of the hotel were dirty, and the room was very small and had a terrible view of a parking lot, which was a shame in a beautiful city. I have stayed at other Fairmonts and have been pleased, but I couldn't recommend this one for the money. Leer más

The Fairmont QE had a pleasant old-world, large hotel feel. Overall, it was good enough that we would consider staying there again. Excellent bed and pillows. Clean room, but cramped because of the large furniture. Decent shower. Elegant public areas. Mediocre restaurant, but a nice bar. Nice location, very friendly staff. Rooms were nice but small because this is an older hotel. Was able to walk to old Montreal in less than 10 minutes. Never had to use subway or taxi.

1st class operation all the way. Concierge and dormen very helpful!
