My stay was very comfortable. although the hotel is a little older, they decorate it nicely and the staff is helpful. also, free breakfast, free wifi and free parking! I usually stay at the doubletree right across the st., but wanted to try this place out (as it's always cheaper). I think I'm just going to start staying here instead. I have no complaints! "Not bad."
Very friendly and hospitable. Needed different pillows at 1030pm and a staff member was at my door promptly. Breakfast was decent for a hotel. Need better tasting coffee though! For a business trip for a night, I would highly recommend.

The rooms were clean and very well decorated. The breakfast in the morning was very good and had a great selection. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Friends stayed across the street at the Marriott for much more and had a terrible time with the reservations and rooms. "Missing a few amenities aren't we?"
First off - very clean hotel in a "business-y" part of town. Close to the highway and convenient to food, fun, banking, grocery, etc. Service was great and the breakfast was great (nice selection of hot items). I've stayed in 2 star hotels and 4 star hotels but all have come equipped with a microwave and small fridge - so I was surprised that this hotel […] didn't have them. I think those are basic amenities that every hotel should have. If I was reading closely I would have come prepared for that minor setback, but all in all I had a great stay. Ample free parking. The bed was SOOOOO comfy!! The other hotels in the area were much more expensive, but I probably would have coughed up some extra dough for a microwave and fridge (and toothpaste!). Leer más

"great stay spoiled by horrible day manager"
When we checked in and Josh at the front desk was GREAT!!!!! Our room was wonderful, the location was great. We really enjoyed our stay untill the next morning. The sink in our bathroom started filling up with this black liquid. it was pretty nasty and it flooded the bathroom and soaked a good portion of the carpet. The maintainence crew was very quick […] to address the issue and worked very quickly to fix the issue. They were fantastic! However, the manager never acknowledged our inconvience. When I went to the front desk she acted like she didnt really care. I explained we hadnt had a chance to shower or anything, only then did she half heartedly offer another room for us. She never asked if any of our things were damaged or anything!! I was soooo angry we just packed our stuff and left before I started to let her have it!!! She needs to be fired for such poor service. It was nice, clean and quiet on our side (away from the gas station). Staffs were friendly. Breakfast was good. And it is convenient to both Coastal hwy and University.

Place was very nice. . the facilities were great. The free breakfast was awesome, Parking was scarce, only recommendation is to that if you have kids request the bottom floor. My kids were behaving, but every day I got a call to be quiet.

Overall the Hotel was very clean and nicelly decorated. And the staff was great too. However, I was shocked that of the actual location, (ie) inbetween freeways and not near the beach. The bio on this place made it seem like it was close to the beach, (ie) like pretty views, etc. But it was totally not near anything pretty, and not walking distance. "Couldn't be more pleased"
In the area for a conference and threw in some sightseeing. I was safe and comfortable, close enough to the places I wanted to see without the traffic and crowds. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. When I return to San Diego, I will return to this Hampton Inn. Thank you!
It was a great stay!
"Hampton Inn Del Mar"
We own a condo in San Diego our daughters live in and we also rent a room. When we have a tenant occupying our rental we then need to find a hotel during our stay. We chose the Hampton Inn as it was close to our condo (in La Jolla) and it was a very convenient location. I booked a room a month prior as my daughter needed to leave due to bedbugs and […] we enjoyed our night at the hotel. When my husband and I returned for 3 days the bed for some reason did not seem as comfortable. I did not pay attention when I stayed here before with my daughter as it was only one night, however I realized upon our check in that the hotel did not have a hot tub. I was so looking forward and needed to relax in a spa so this was a disappointment. I did love how clean the rooms are maintained, the bedding was so clean. A note on the bed indicated they wash the comforter which was a relief (no bedbugs). I also was very happy with the quality of the breakfast they provide each morning. Comfortable overall. However, overnight clerk (manager..?) seemed a little rude...When approached, instead of asking: '...how can I help you..', his question was: 'What do you want...?' This was the lowest point of this short staying. Don't let these people ruin your reviews...
"Not Worth the Price"
I usually enjoy staying at the Hampton, but this felt more like a motel 6. The room's carpets had a grimy feeling and the breakfast didn't seem well cooked. The hotel is in a nice neighborhood close to the ocean, but I wouldn't stay here again.

I stayed here after spending a day at the racetrack and wanted a close place to crash. The location was convenient to the track and offers a free shuttle. I didn't have time to use the pool, but saw it and thought it was pretty dinky. So if you're looking for that, I'd pick somewhere else. The free breakfast was nice with eggs, waffles, and potatoes […] in addition to the usual fruit, cereal, and juice. There was an AM/PM right behind which was very convenient. "perfect for us"
This hotel was perfect for our say in San Diego. It was convenient to all locations that we were going to. We had a pet with us and the hotel was accommodating for the pet. The only minor problem was the area that the pets can "do their thing" was wet a lot of times, which meant that the dog got dirty. Not a big deal because he's small and we could […] go to other places for his business. The breakfast was nice, but I would recommend getting there before 8 am because it got really busy and not much room to sit and eat.
