Landing at midnight and leaving at 6 AM, this is the only hotel I could really use. Excellent room and service.

"Nightmare Before Christmas"
Booked a Deluxe Room and nothing could be further from reality. Handles hanging off the door, torn wallpaper repaired with tape, a 12 inch deep closet, dripping shower, and a tv that did not work. The response to a complaint to the front desk- have a free breakfast! They did not care and a subsequent apology and offer of a free night at such an arrogant […] hotel did not help. I suspect the reality was that the hotel was full because of Christmas parties and my wife and I were in an overflow room awaiting renovation. They hoped we would not complain and if we did, that we would accept their insincere offer of a free meal and go away. As I said in my complaint to the hotel directly, I have had better stays at motels during hockey tournaments with my son and for a lot less money. Leer más
We were very sorry to learn of this reviewer’s experience. This guestroom was in no way indicative of our normal standard of quality and an alternative guestroom should have been offered. We are thankful that this reviewer voiced concern while in-house and followed up with us directly, enabling us to address the condition of this guestroom as well as our shortfall in service. We regret that our gestures of apology were not meaningful.

"Disappointment"
I've been waiting so long to stay at this hotel and we finally did on Saturday night. Our TV was broken - we called to have it fixed but no one came and our shower was more of a drip than a shower. The bathroom fixtures were corroded and just plain run down. The bed was comfortable and the room service we ordered was delicious but the standard of the […] room was more than disappointing. "Location, Location, Location...."
Contrary to popular belife the Royal York Hotel is far from old world charm. The rooms are severley dated and the plumbing tells tales from the 1920's. This hotel only has appeal because it is a hub of activity, right across from the busy bustling union station and acess to Toronto's underground city called "path" the Royal York has an advantage of […] getting guests in. They really need to start competing with some of the more updated "nicer" hotels in the area. I was pretty grossed out by the bathroom, however I only had to contend with one night I put my differences aside. Other than thoes few complaints there is nothing much else "good" or "bad" to say. Next time I will think more about my surroundings and less of the convinience when choosing a downtown hotel. Leer más
"No value for money"
Deluxe room did not have microwave/kitchenette, room cold as staff left cold air on (Dec 8), heating did not appear to work well, washroom very small, bath tiny, poor view from window, no breakfast included,no parking included, all in all no value for the big dollars paid.

To clarify, microwaves and kitchenettes are not standard room features, however microwaves are available upon request ($25 fee). If this is a top priority, our Fairmont View rooms are south facing and offer different vantages of Union Station and Lake Ontario. For the price paid the hotel in our opinion was not worth the value. Our room was on the 3rd floor and our bedroom wall I swear was directly behind the Elevator shaft and the noise all night long was like sleeping on the 401. The room was small and the decor was definitely dated and in need of an overhaul. We booked through Hotels.com but if this room […] was not characteristic of the last accommodation we had booked which was also a Fairmont in Seattle where we had a spectacular room in a fabulous hotel with great service and decor. "perfect for dinner and theater."
Excellent staff and service. Valet parking was very busy and well handled.Theaters and wonderful restaurants within a 5 -10 min. walk. Try N'awlins Jazz Bar for great food and very good prices.

Great old & historical Hotel. The many great things about this hotel were sadly diminished by the very frustrating experience of using The Fairmont & Fairmont-Gold Wi-Fi. "Historic Charm"
I've stayed at the Fairmont Royal York twice now, and it's been a good experience both times. The jacuzzi hot tub in the pool area is fun, the beds are comfortable and the food that we ordered for room service was delicious with generous portions. The lobby is beautiful and old fashioned which is part of the appeal. Old school charm!
"Old days Eligance"
I really like the hotel the inside was very luxurious. The staff and customer service was great. However, the room has wall paper that looks like it is going to peel soon. This is because the bathroom has no fan so when you take a shower all the moisture and condesation stays in the room .

"Stayed in Thanksgiving"
Walking distance to CN Tower, short driving to Chinatown and Casa Loma, ROM. No public parking. Swimming pool opens till 10 pm, pretty cold on water.

Very noisy in the hallways at night. People returning to their rooms after an evening out just having a normal conversation was easily heard. Long wait to get car out of valet parking. I called 15 min. ahead of time and waited about 45 minutes for my car. I think you would have to call 1 hour ahead.

We have a number of measures in place to help prevent this type of problem and our security team has reviewed our procedures based on your feedback. Our goal is to ensure that our guests can retrieve their vehicles within 15 – 20 minutes and we do advise that our guests call ahead for their cars. When volume is especially is high, we sometimes encounter longer than average wait times. These circumstances are rare and we strive to quote an accurate pick-up time to assist our guests in planning their departures.

"Great value!"
We got an excellent deal on a beautiful room! It was convenient to everything we wanted to do in the city and the hotel was gorgeously decorated for the holidays. The atmosphere helped make our stay really special.

This is my favorite place to stay in Toronto. It's so beautiful and I love the history of the building. the location is exactly where I want to be. It's great to be able to get off the train and walk across the road. I also flew out of City airport last summer and the shuttle picks you up at the Fairmont, so again the convenience of this location is […] wonderful. "Good location but needs renovating"
Pros: Great location at Porter shuttle drop off and close to subway station. Nice looking lobby - very fancy. Connects to the underground with access to shopping and restaurants. Free Internet for President's Club Members. Cons: Rooms are small and need renovating. My room had a big stain on the carpet, the shower head was clogged up with calcium and […] lime deposits and one of my closet doors didn't work. Surprising for the Fairmont. This guestroom is in no way reflective of the luxury we strive to provide and we are very concerned about this review. "Royal York... Always classy!"
Although I live in Markham staying downtown after a night out is a treat. And staying at the royal is a treat times 2. Nicely appointed , great service and comfortable bed. A very nice treat.

Dissappointed by quality of rooms. Expected much more luxurious room for Royal York. Stayed at lower star hotels in other cities, that I would rate better than Royal York. Since got such a good deal on price, was okay. Would have been very annoyed if I had paid full price.

Had no problems with this hotel. Make sure you order the larger room if your party is a group of 3 or more as some rooms are quite small. Location is perfect. Access to subway across the street and enough restaurants within walking distance.

forgot how small the rooms actually were in this hotel, I used to work in the hotel as a summer student many years ago, decor look exactly the same as back then. Great service but the Library Bar service is very slow
"Lovely Old Hotel - needs renovating"
This is a beautiful old hotel. But our room had peeling wallpaper, worn fabric on the chairs and a view of the rail yards. The room was quiet and you did get a sense of past grandeur when walking through the lobby. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

You can't ask for a better location if you want to see the city , it was a very busy hotel so if you don't like tons of people this isn't a good place to stay. The under ground shopping was great a starbucks near was super.

Overall stay was above average, close to everything..the entire core area of downtown seems to be under construction-maybe the economy IS looking up..have stayed at this property many times and will continue to do so..really nice pool and hot tub set up.
"Beautiful old hotel but slack customer service"
Our stay at the Fairmont Royal York was a bit of a disappointment. Although the hotel is a lovely landmark, our room seemed outdated and "frayed." The bath tub stopper did not work. There was mold in the bathroom grout. We even had a hard time getting standard toiletries brought to our room. In-room wireless, parking, and the on site dining options […] were all unusually expensive. When paying for a luxury hotel one expects luxury treatment -- and if we had received that we probably would not have resented being nickeled and dimed for services that are often free or substantially less expensive elsewhere. Loved the PATH shops under the hotel and the access to the Air Canada Center for hockey. Upon check in it was requested to be placed near the room of our travel companions, but this was not honored. One room was in the east wing and one in the west wing. While our room was comfortable, the location was not. There was a bank of elevators directly across […] the hall which sounded continually like a very loud wind tunnel. "good hotel stay"
Hotel is well maintained and room was comfortable. Rate per night was very good compared to other hotels in the area. They did not provide a king bed, it was a queen. Room was comfortable but there was no view of the city. The front desk said none were available but I never saw hoards of guests everywhere. They don't always keep to the reservation details. […] The Library was a good bar / restaurant - prices were moderate to expensive for food. Food was very good and prepared as ordered. Limited but good selection of micro brews and a lot of specialty drinks. Male wait staff very courteous and attentive. Female wait staff kind of dull and going through the motions. Don't keep any of your own beverages in the mini-bar fridge. They will discard it. They were charging $5 for consuming one of their 8oz bottles of water. Leer más

the hotel Grand York in Toronto was very nice, although all the construction around it made getting to it very inconvenient especially for someone who does not live there. Great breakfast in the hotel restaurant, but somewhat pricy. Hotel staff very helpful.
Good Hotel. Service in restaurants and bars was poor and rather pricey. I would stay at Fairmont Royal York again but would eat and drink outside of hotel.
