This hotel is very well maintained, and we had a great 3-day weekend stay. Location is amazing and the staff is very friendly and aside from a bit of stuffy attitude from the front desk staff, they were very friendly and down-to-earth. Two complaints: 12 bucks a day for slow internet / wifi connection? Ridiculous. I can get free wifi at Motel 6. And […] Casa del Mar's wifi kept cutting out on me. 34 bucks a day for parking is crazy, but I paid it. Also, if you get an Ocean View room from any site other than the hotel's own site, you get a partial ocean view, not a direct/full ocean view. Other than those complaints, we had a wonderful stay. totally swanky hotel - beautiful art deco style - in outstanding location

We went to great pains to try and book the best hotel to stay in on Santa Monica beach because we were only there for one night and Casa Del Mar fitted the bill perfectly. From check-in we felt special and this continued until we left the next morning. We stayed in an Ocean View room, it was a partial view, but looking at the reviews, we had expected […] that and it was still worth paying the extra. The room was light and airy and the bed wonderfully soft, if incredibly high (anyone who's read the Princess and the Pea will get what I mean!) The bathroom was lovely and the shower one of the nicest I've ever experienced, strong with a great shower head. The bath looked great but we're more invigorating shower types after travelling for 15 hours! We had a drink in the bar which has a wonderful vibe to it, and had we been there for a couple more nights, I'm sure we would have enjoyed just sitting and watching the world go by. Our jet-lag meant that we were up nice and early the next morning and the staff remembered our names every time we went in and out of the hotel (a very nice touch that they don't even do at the Four Seasons). Being able to watch the sun come up (and go down the night before) steps from our hotel on Santa Monica beach is pretty special. My only comment is that the room was pretty compact and if you were going to spend much time in the room, you may want to upgrade to a larger room, although nothing's cheap there it would probably be worth it. I had to buy the internet for work and think that $12.00 is pretty reasonable although the phone coverage in the room was very hit and miss! We didn't partake of the pool but yes, it is small as other reviews have noted, but if you get to use Shutters as well, and have the Pacific Ocean laid out in front of you, you have plenty of choice. All in all, this hotel provided us with exactly the experience we were looking for and I would highly recommend it. Leer más

one of the best hotel of santa monica everithing is nice except the valet parking which could be faster

My short stay was very pleasant The staff was very serviceable from the moment we arrived at the curbside to the day that we left. I will be back. I recommend this excellent hotel to everyone. It was outstanding. Thank you for assisting us to find such a treasure.

In essence, this hotel is really a very nice 3.5 star hotel. Though the decorations, paint, and furnishings are all very new and modern, one cannot escape the smell of mold and mildew throughout the hotel since, it would appear, the building itself is nearly 100 years old. This definitely detracts from the overall experience in a big way. Moreover, […] the service at the hotel varied hugely based upon whom you were dealing with. Some employees were extremely friendly and helpful, while others were very short and irritated by requests or questions, and still others were flat-out rude (especially when it became apparent that you were not a "high roller"). On the whole, the price I paid was easily double the value I received (which is probably being generous to the hotel). The neighborhood is populated with homeless and vagrants, and the sale of every imaginable touristy item inundates the environment. Several "medical marijuana" storefronts are within 1 mile of the hotel on the beach boardwalk. To say that the element in the area pretty much overruns the entire area would be an understatement. Standing on the hotel's pool balcony (overlooking the beach boardwalk and the beach), within a 15 minute time period I personally witnessed two different people (one male and one female - not affiliated with one another) urinate in public on the grass next to the boardwalk. I would have been much better off staying at a "high-end" hotel in downtown Los Angeles, versus this highly questionable area with a has-been hotel dropped into it. Leer más

Perfect location, the room was clean and beautiful although it was a bit far from the ocean but technically it had a side ocean view. Swimming pool was closed for two days but neighbouring hotel pool was available. Valet parking price was not mentionned in the reservation. Service was great.

The Hotel Casa Del Mar is a very nice place and the rather small room was well appointed. With the exception of the car valets out front, most of the staff was unexceptional. Very distant and not very attentive. This would be a good place if you're on an expense account and don't care if your double Makers Mark costs $23, but generally speaking, we […] both thought it "nickled and dimed" us too much (make that "Ten'd and Twenty'd" us). The poorly lit "water closet" in the bathroom even featured an array of (I guess) very pricey spa related items. We were almost afraid to use the shampoo in the bathroom, for fear it would cost us an additional $10 or something. We've stayed in some very, very nice hotels in our past, and this one was just lacking something. Warmth? A real caring for their guests? Nice bed, pretty room (but small, as I said), and the "ocean view" I paid for was from the side of the building through rather narrow windows. Not nearly as nice as we'd had at another hotel earlier the same weekend. Wish we'd remained there, rather than spending twice as much at the Casa Del Mar. Casa del Mar was awesome. The pool is cozy, private, and a great view off the chaos of the beach. The cool clean rooms are terrfic and the warm, friendly service was beyond expectation. We hated to leave! I hope we can come back soon.

Only drawback was pool staff was not friendly. We were there for 3 hours over lunch time and she never came once to ask if we'd like to place any food order.

Great hotel, Shutters and Casa del mar are the same hotel. Its wonderful being on the beach, great room. Fun lobby with huge bar great people watching but very relaxed.

This was a nice hotel, but the lack of advertising, and alerting their customers to the outrageous price of parking leaves a lot to be desired. When we pulled up in front of the hotel we were hurried out of our car, and did not see any rates displayed. When I checked in nothing was said about the parking rates, and again hwne we walked to dinner there […] was no sign outside for the parking rates. With the outrageous rate we paid for parking each night you would expect that your car would be parked under covered parking and come out as clean as when you left it in their hands. Wrong again! I got my car back and it was filthy. Their were hand prints all over on the inside of it, my stereo was turned up in the car, and my GPS was thrown on the floor. I would expect better care for my car at a place like this. Highly dissapointed. I would definitely find parking on the street somewhere near by, then that way at least you know they won't be abusing your stuff. Leer más

This hotel is outstanding, but when we retrieved our car from the valet parking it was full of leaves and bird droppings. My complaint with the hotel is unresolved as of this date.

I thought the hotel was very nice, but my room was not ready until 3:45 when it was supposed to be ready at 3:00, so I had to wait in the lobby till the room was ready, and the staff made no effort to compensate me for my inconvence. I had a wonderful mini-vacation here. The service was exquisite, and the hotel is just beautiful. Everything was clean and the staff were very attentive. The bar/lounge area has fantastic views of the water and the pier. I LOVED the waffle I ate for breakfast and the mango mojito I had in the lounge. They were both delicious! This hotel is perfectly […] located - walking distance to the beach, the pier, and 3rd street. My other favorite part of the hotel was the jacuzzi tub. It was so relaxing. This is how we felt after staying at Hotel Casa Del Mar. The staff was nice to let us check in an hour earlier than normal so we could enjoy the beautiful beach this hotel is located on. Great food and drinks in the lobby, the room was clean and we will be coming back!

Beautiful hotel in every way. The room was appointed flawlessly. The location could not have been better, and the view from our room was fantastic. Our experience could not have been better.

We used this hotel as a base during a five day visit, so we were rarely here during the day, so we did not experience the restaurants, bar or room service. The pool area is very pleasant with a great view of the beach. The hotel location was perfect: right on the beach and close to the I-10 freeway. The employees that we encountered were without exception […] very kind and helpful. The room was smallish, but very comfortable and well-equipped. Comfy bed with two individual adjustable reading lights. Loved the bathroom. It had a big tub with jets and a shower with great pressure. Sink had drawers on each side. Good closet area. This was kind of a splurge for us, but I think it was a good value. My only complaints are fairly minor: the coffee service was not reliably replenished, and the prices for the wireless internet and some of the in-room items seemed high. if you could stay at any hotel around the area, and money wasn't a concern. this would be your choice.

unfortunately, the weather was rainy, windy and COLD. but the room was amazing. a good workout room. nothing fancy, but adequate. there is a $32 or so Valet parking charge. but hey, you wouldn't stay there if $32 was a concern. great service as well

HOTEL STUPENDO OTTIMA POSIZIONE E RISTORANTE ECCELLENTE

Romantik i storstadens kan inte bli battre; Santa Monica beach. Fantastisk personal (utom en gnallig hotel switch board operator, vilket gjorde det annu mer lustigt...), superbra mat i restaurangerna, men bast av allt: rummen. Maste ses!
