great value hotel. May not have the "boutique" appeal of nearby places but I would say the rooms are overall better (bigger) although absence of a fridge is noted. The staff are very friendly. It's always a pleasant experience to stay at this hotel.
"Great location, poor hotel"
While the hotel is well situated near the heart of Dublin yet in a quieter part of town, this hotel missed the mark for me. Not once, but twice, I was given room keys that were not functional. The person at reception didn't bat an eyelash at her mistakes as their card machine wasn't functioning well and they had no one on staff over the weekend to attend […] to it. Then I asked for a wake-up call at 5:30am and a taxi at 6:00am. Instead, I was awakened at 5:00am and called at 5:45am that my taxi had left after waiting several minutes. Who lets an ordered taxi sit several minutes and leave before calling the guest?? Just no attention to detail by the staff here. Leer más

I thought it was interesting they do not offer wash cloths as part of their linen package. The television selection was not very good as they only offered about 10 selections and one of those was at times in Gaelic. Overall, we thought the hotel and its staff were excellent. It was in a centralized location so you could get wherever you needed to go […] within walking distance and I never felt threatened by its location. It was very safe. We would definitely stay there again. Leer más

"O'Callaghan Hotel"
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The business centre printer kept jamming was old and should have been replaced. The fitness facility was closed supposedly being refurbished but this was not mentioned prior to booking. That said my one night stay was fine given the Hotel.com rates .
"O'Callaghans Stephens Green we'll be back"
This hotel is very central for everything you'd want to do in Dublin. It's a comfortable clean hotel with very friendly staff who do their best to be helpful.(But couldn't find a needle and threadfor us!) The bar food was very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable and although our room was above a very busy street it was lovely and quiet. We enjoyed […] watching the Luas tram pulling in and out of St Stephens Green disgorging Christmas shoppers, students and people going to work while we ate a leisurely breakfast. We would definitely go back. Leer más

"Great Stay"
Hotel is in good location, close walk to pubs and bars. Rooms were quiet, nice, clean and the staff were more than friendly. After four nights I had nothing to complain about at all. This is the place you want to stay if you are a tourist and want to be close to all the attractions. Can't go wrong.
"Hotel Rooms awful on 2 sides of Hotel"
Stayed here for a romantic break with my wife for some Christmas shopping. The first night we got no sleep because we were on the 2nd floor at the front of the Hotel. There were people on the street who we could hear in great detail. The windows offered no sound proof. Even worse, in the early hours around 5 am we could hear the delivery truck wich woke […] us up. At check in the lady was straight forward but not overly pleasant. Fortunately when we asked for a change of room the next morning the young man at reception was very helpful and immediately got us a new room on the opposite side. Another probelm with both rooms was that privacy was very limited if you wanted to let the day light in. The reason for this is because there are no net curtains on either side so everyone can see intro your room. The new room was even worse because there was a window from opposite room where people could see directly in. There were no net curtains but at least the young man at reception was trying his best. I last stayed here in 2007 at the back of this Hotel and never noticed this before because at that time there was nowehere to view into our room. At check out the staff did not ask us if we enjoyed our stay. There were no smiles or anything. Doesn't bother me but I often think its a tell tale sign of their attitude when they don't smile. Anyway overall it was a poor stay with one nights sleep lost and at best - average customer service overall. Another thing about the rooms. You can't plug in any power at the bed side. You have to sit at the desk at the front. We asked for extension lead and were told they were all at the boardroom for a meeting! Poor answer. This hotel should easily be able to provide a spare extension lead. I have to say I am very dissapoointed and won't be staying here again. My Wife agrees fully with this. The only positive was the reaction of the young man in changing our room but even then, he should have escalated the fact we didn't get any sleep to the man Leer más

"St. Stephen's Green Hotel - pity about the staff!"
Hotel room was nice and the hotel itself was in a good location but the staff were not very helpful and some were quite rude. We paid for a late checkout (2.30 p.m.) and one of the staff barged into our room at 12.15 p.m. shouting that we were late for checkout.. not impressed!!!
"St Stephens Green Hotel"
Great location - close to Harcourt St pubs, Grafton St shopping and nite life. The room in the hotel had a broken shower which would only spray scaldingly hot water so had to use the hand held nozzle from the bath mixer tap which was inconvenient and a bit messy. We had breakfast in the hotel one morning which was ok, but the following morning we went […] out for a nicer breakfast at a cafe. Leer más
"Good value"
My husband and I stayed for only one night at O'Callaghan Stephen Green and were satisfied with our stay. We had reserved a regular room, but when we found out that the toilet wouldn't flush and the phone was broken, the staff moved us to another room on the same floor. When we realized that the lock on the door wasn't functioning properly on the new […] room, the staff apologized and gave us a suite. We happened to stay during the freak rainstorm in Dublin in October, and the excessive water was causing problems at the hotel - so although the staff seemed on-edge, they seemed to do a good job under thr trying circumstances. "Great location for good price"
We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of this hotel and its great location. It is very clean with a really big room and a huge bed which was very comfortable. It is within walking distance of Grafton Street and yet is far enough away so is quite peaceful. Overall we really enjoyed this hotel and would happily stay again.

"Very Friendly Staff"
The staff was very understanding and friendly, helping us to deal with several situations, such as a 5:30 am arrival, or a broken glass late in the evening. They were great with recommendations, directions, and friendly greetings at the end of a long day. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
"Central Dublin hotel"
Very convenient location and spacious rooms.
"A very nice hotel close to the center of Dublin"
We stayed in one of the junior suites on the top floor and had a nice view from the balcony. The hotel is just opposite Stephen's Green, a large well maintained park, and just a few minutes walk to the Grafton Street. The hotel contributed significantly to the success of our visit in Dublin and we would not hesitate to choose this hotel again at a future […] visit. Leer más

"Do not stay here"
The desk person was unhappy and cranky. The rooms are truly awful and need major updating. The shower was terrible. I am a positive, glass half-full type of person, and have never written a negative review before. This place is disgusting.
"Door Problems"
Had a group with 5 rooms. Over a period of several days we had to be issued way over 50 new sets of keys because the keys would not work. Nice people, good location, and nice rooms. No free internet or real coffee.
"A nice stay, but nothing great"
This hotel was comfortable, but the fact that there were all these surcharges for internet, tv, breakfast and so on I would have been better off at a budget hotel. The service should have made up for it, but the staff did not seem to know the area and could not give us great directions without having to look at a map or call somewhere to get directions […] themselves. I was charged 9.95 for internet/tv package only to find out it didn't work and only after complaining did that charge get removed and they tell me that it is 2.99 for the hour but it is done through the web browser. It seemed a litlle strange to me and if I didn't speak up, I'm afraid I would still have gotten charged both. Leer más
"Dublin Stay - June 2011"
Hotel in great location - short distance to shopping, trinity college, St. Patricks etc. Only complaint no hot water one morning (boiler got turned off - not sure what that was about) Overall good experience.
"Great location, outstanding service"
The hotel is in a perfect location, near to everything, but in a quiet spot close to restaurants, pubs and stores. Rooms were recently renovated, air conditioned. The chairs which were chosen are designer chairs, not comfortable. Staff was very accomodating, responding to our every request. Overall, a very nice stay. Only complaint is charge for internet. "if staying in Dublin, O'Callaghan's Stephens Green"
The hotel staff was more than helpful for the duration of our stay. We were located a block from Graffton St., which my wife loved for the shopping, and not far at all from the fun that is Temple Bar. I would recommend this place to anyone that has never been to Dublin, it is very convenient.
"All good except..."
Only gripe I had is that we had a room facing the road and early work traffic is a pain after a night on the town!! Couldn't fault it other than that
"O'Callaghan Stephens Green is in a great location"
Our first four days in Ireland were in this well located, comfortable hotel. The room was light with adequate bath space and a view of the local neighborhood. We could walk to Grafton Street and historical buildings and enjoy Stephens Green across the street. I would have liked a second chair at the table and a sheet under the comforter. The coffee […] and tea maker was welcome and always ready with small milk cartons. I would stay again. Leer más
"Great Location and Value"
We were thrilled by this hotel. It is located right in the middle of the action in center city Dublin. Convenient walks to Trinity College, the castle, museums, and wonderful pubs and restaurants. Plus the hotel is lovely, with a cordial staff and very reasonable rates.
"Not a boutique hotel"
To this veteran traveller and hotel devotee I would say that Jozef at the front desk was very hard working, overworked and probably underpaid. First impression of lobby is dreadful, tired old furniture, uninteresting art and suitcases everywhere. Breakfast room just as tired. stained and soiled. This hotel was described as a boutique hotel-it certainly […] is not. It is, however, very well located for St. Stephens Green, Grafton and Dawson Streets but has no intrinsic charm or personality. My room had wonderful duvets-bedding is very comfortable and bath was extremely clean. Bottom line is the hotel public areas desperately need upgrading to qualify as a boutique hotel. No newspapers for sale in the hotel, no safe in my room, no suggestions for restaurants, etc, etc-all the things that constitute a truly "boutique " hotel. The location is so great an infusion of money to upgrade would really improve it. Barbara F Leer más
"What to expect..."
Expect a great place in a great location. The staff is friendly and helpful, truly class acts. The location is unmatched, Grafton street, Stephen's Green, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar District, and St. Patrick's Cathedral all in walking distance. Also don't miss "Darwin's" restaurant on Aungier Street (make a left coming out of the hotel and a right on […] Aungier St., not far up the road, worth the walk - you'll thank me, TRUST ME, it makes Ruth's Chris look like a burger joint). The steaks there are the BEST in the city and the hotel is so close. But I digress.... If you are going to the train station, Phoenix Park, the Convention Center, the Zoo, O'Connell St., or anything on the quays, you may want to take a cab (we walked but we like to explore, cabs are cheap and it's a short distance to travel). The condition of the hotel is worn a bit, but it has a classic charm that you want and expect from a hotel in Dublin City. They are clean and that's not the same as worn, cleanliness is mandatory, worn is something that can actually enhance an experience when in a historic place. The only thing(s) that will get poor marks here is the air-conditioning, if you want to call it that, but the rooms have windows that open, if you don't mind city noise, it will keep your room considerably cool in the Spring and Autumn months. The other problem we had was the hours of the restaurant "The Pie Dish Bistro". It's not a big deal, but the room service menu cuts considerably in selection once it's closed forcing you to walk the streets late if you're hungry for anything other than a sandwich, luckily, it's in a super safe neighborhood with lots of places open late, so you're bound to find something, but after a long day (of walking mostly), it would have been nice to have room service bring us an actual meal at the end of a long day and save us from another walk. But maybe I'm just spoiled? There is no minibar or fridge so you'll have to rely on an ice bucket from the "Magic Glasses" bar Leer más
"At edge of, but not in action"
Hotel is located in a fairly quiet place, yet close to what visitors want to get to on holiday. Staff was excellent - always friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. Staff helped with a problem not involving the hotel which demonstrated excellent skills we very much appreciated. "Fantastic hotel in perfect location"
O'Callaghan is a great place to stay in Dublin. Our room was spacious and clean. The staff was always friendly and helpful and willing to go out of their way to be of service. The best part of all, though, was the location of the hotel. Just blocks away from Trinity College, Grafton Street and Temple Bar, it is close to many interesting places to visit […] as well as great pubs and restaurants. Access to public transportation is also close by. Despite being near the center of much activity, the hotel is quiet and in a safe area. "Great location, clean & cheap, sparse furniture!"
Great location on the edge of Stephen's Green, ideal for shopping in Grafton Street, close to everything. We used overnight parking at nearby garage for only €12. While hotel was clean and modern, we payed extra for a junior suite, but were disappointed to find the sitting room only contained a sofa! No coffee table, side table for drinks - at first […] we thought it had been burgled? Obviously to cut down on maintenance costs, furniture had been moved elsewhere. "Excellent"
I arrived very early but had no problem checking into my junior suite. I have stayed at this hotel many times but it appeared that the suite has recently been refurbished ( to a very good standard). The bed and pillows are very comfortable. My only tiny criticism - lack of decent TV channels and the TV's could be larger.
