"Small room. Very very small."
This is a typical small room expensive hotel in London. If you are staying for a few days you would be better staying out a bit and getting something better for the price. In saying that, it's still safe and clean with good service. Just felt like we were staying in a single room in a backpackers...

"Basic to say the least"
We booked the hotel for my mother in law's 60th birthday as we were going to see a show. The rooms were tiny, there was one wardrobe that you could hang about 3 items in and no drawer space. The taps and shower in our room were the wrong way around, you had to turn on the cold to get hot and vice versa. The lift in the premises holds about 3 people […] with luggage and seems to pick it's own floors. On the daty of checkout we called the lift and had to wait about 10 minutes for it to arrive so we could get in, I kid you not! TV was tiny and we could get about 4 channels with no interference. There were no curtains and just a a blind on the single glazed window so being next to a main road you can hear abit of traffic. Leer más
"Nice, Affordable, Friendly"
I enjoyed my stay at Kensington Rooms. The location was great, close access to the tube, and within walking distance to many of the city's attractions. Room size was decent for one person. Staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the main street next to the hotel was very loud at all times of the day, making it hard to sleep. My suggestion […] would be to ask for a room opposite the street side. Leer más
"Very convenient for a few days' stay"
Of course the rooms are small, but all London hotel rooms probably are. I was by myself, so I didn't mind that. The only thing I didn't really appreciate was the traffic noise just outside my window, even though I was up on the third floor. The radiator was a bit noisy and three out of five television channels didn't come in too well. But it's very […] close to the Gloucester Underground Station and there are some nice pubs in the surrounding area (Stanhope Arms was excellent, just down the street). Kensington's staff was generally very nice to me and it was a secure, clean place. It seemed rather expensive, at least for me, but the location is worth it if you're coming out to London for a holiday. Leer más

"Great boutique hotel, but MC Escher-like stairs"
My room looked just like the photos on the 2nd floor, and my room faced Gloucester street. Clean, quiet and spacious. Very close to the tube and a large supermarket. On thing to note is that b/c it's an older building, the lift takes you to the 2nd floor, but there are half flights leading from the lift (going up or down) to floors that are still considered […] the same floor. It was a little difficult to lift and heave my 40lb suitcase up a flight of stairs. Otherwise, no complaints. There are tons of boutique hotels on Gloucester including large American hotel chains. South Kensington is very safe to walk in during the day and evening hours. Leer más

really small room with little leg room but a huge bed. shower is choking so you have to wait a while for the water to flow before continuing to shower. took the lift up and there is still some stairs so may be troublesome for those with a lot of luggage. did not have free breakfast but we went to a cafe near the metro and had buffet breakfast for 5 […] euros. there is also a supermarket nearby where we bought our picnic stuffs. nearby sights include natural history museum and V&A museum. "My hotel room - a walk-in closet"
Great location! Tiny room. So much so that I think my walk-in closet is larger than that hotel room. I'd expected that breakfast would be included; it wasn't. With only 2.5 channels on TV, in-room entertainment was pretty much non-existent. The Do-Not-Disturb sign on the door was ignored by staff one day.
"Small, but clean. Close to the tube"
Small room with small shower, but very clean. Only a few blocks away from the tube.

"Kensington Rooms"
Great location we walked everywhere or caught the train which was 2 blocks down the road. The room was surprisingly bigger than we expected the only let down was that there was no fridge in the room or ice machine.
"Comfortable and friendly"
About a 5 minute walk from the Gloucester Rd Underground station. The neighborhood is a bit quiet, which was just fine for us. The room was clean and comfortable, but with a very large bed there wasnt much room for dancing. One problem was that the cleaning lady came in rather unannounced one morning around 10am. Overall, very pleased.
"Kensington Rooms... the not-so boutique hotel"
My last day in the UK after spending 5 weeks working and living on a golf course and 3 weeks driving through Ireland, Wales, England, and Scotland was spent in this hotel. I wanted something reasonable and comfortable for my only night in London. The hotel was in a fairly good location. I found parking on the street immediately after arriving. The guy […] at the front desk just looked at me when I walked in and the girl was much more helpful in getting me checked in. You have to turn in your key when you leave which is a little annoying. More annoying was that the second time I came back, I just gave my room number to a new guy working the desk and he handed me the key without asking my name or checking ID. The room was as small as other reviewers have mentioned. Two people could not comfortably walked around the bed. I had to stack my suitcases on top of each other just to have enough room. The window was wide open when we got there so I closed it up when we left to get some food. When we got back the room smelled horrible. I tracked the smell to the bathroom so maybe they were having some sewer gas problems. I opened up the window and closed the bathroom door for the remainder of the stay. The bed looked nice but was nowhere near as comfortable as the bed & breakfasts that we had been staying in. Actually, the beds in the guest houses in Great Yarmouth were better than this. The next morning we went to have breakfast. I prepaid for a full English. We got there about 920 and they were about to seat us no problem until they saw we had a full English coupon. The lady said that they were closing at 930 and our breakfast would take at least 20 minutes to cook. I told her no problem and we could get a refund on the tickets and eat somewhere else. She huffed and said she would take care of it. It was not more than 5-6 minutes when we had our breakfast. After breakfast we went to take showers and get ready to leave. There was an iron and ironing board at the top of the landin Leer más

"Nice hotel but so so service"
When we arrived, the front desk lady informed us that we were upgraded! Nice surprise. The rooms were large and beautiful. Free wi-fi in lobby. Very close to Gloucester underground station. You can't print your bordering pass unless you email it to their website and after spending a while on it, they couldn't find my email. This was the only frustrating […] event, otherwise the stay was nice. Good luggage storage system. Leer más

She helped us get started on our 1st day […] - tips, arrangements, etc. - also wonderful with getting to the airport on final day - critical! Very friendly, smiling and quick-thinking. "Kensington Rooms- Location is the only good thing"
My husband and I arrived at the Kensington Rooms hotel very late in the evening after traveling from the US (which essentially means we were on a plane all day). After we navigated through the dark, dingy halls of the hotel we came upon our room, opened the door and much to our surprise were terribly disappointed. The room was dark and dingy (to match […] the halls) TINY (and I booked the mid size accomodations) and not at all luxurious. The bed was hard as a rock and I would not consider what the provided as "premium bedding" and there was not a pillowtop mattress (I sleep on a feather bed with down pillows at home - so I know premium and comfort). When I attempted to wash my face prior to turning in for the evening there was no hot water. The next morning while showering - the shower door did not seal so I had a puddle on the floor. The satellite service provided maybe 5 channels but the TV did not work correctly so it really did not matter how many channels. There was not enough room to walk between the bed and the TV stand to get to the bathroom - we had to turn sideways and only 1 at a time. There was no place to put luggage. The complimentary toiletries (which is why I always bring my own) were plastic packets of shampoo/body wash (all in one). Not my idea of something I am putting on my hair. The hair dryer was ANCIENT and attached to the wall by the desk (not in the bathroom where most people get ready for the day) . It was so ancient that it did not work. I went to the front desk in the morning and they quickly handed over a real hairdryer. Apparently this is a common problem. The rooms are secured by actual keys and there is really no security to the building at all. People can walk in and out as they please with no questions asked. In our short 10 hours we managed to lock ourselves out of the room twice. So, needless to say....we checked out after 1 night of our 5 night stay. (if it had not been so late when we checked in we would not have stayed the 1 night) Leer más
"Nothing Exciting"
For the area, this hotel had fairly good rates. However, it was a really small room, really small bathroom, uncomfortable bed, etc and we opened the window for air circulation. There was also a horrid smell half the time. The positive aspect about such a room was that it encouraged us to stay out and about in London!
"Small, but reasonable"
Service was employee dependent (young morning guy was great; French girl in the evening was beyond rude). Room condition was OK. Blinds didn't reach the bottom of the sill, leaving six inches of unimpeded daylight. The showerhead was too low and managed to spray the whole bathroom. Overall though, it was decent and clean, albeit on the small side.
"Kensington rooms - great location for the tube"
It was a fab location, easy access to heathrow, and to tourist spots. Lots of restaurants close by. Room was very dusty and did not match the website pictures. Overall was satisfied and would recommend it.
"Nice hotel but not elderly friendly"
Hotel was nice, great for a one night stay in the city and it's just a couple blocks from the underground. Not elderly/disabled friendly though as the elevator would come to a stairs landing, then you'd have to walk up about 8 steps (with your bags) to the hallway (which were the width of a large suit case). Breakfast was very good and staff was he […] lpful. Leer más
"A Caravan would have been bigger"
I'll start off saying the good point of this hotel. It is quiet central, down the road from the tube station, close to several shops and restaurants etc. However, having requested a quiet room, we were given what has to be the worlds smallest hotel room I have ever seen. There was a double bed jammed up against a wall and apx 1 foot of room on the other […] side and end of the bed. When myself and my husband were both standing in the room at the same time, we could not pass each other. The bathroom was a joke. When sitting on the toilet your knees are hitting the sink. When bending over to wash your hands your bum hits the door behind you and to get into the shower you need to limber up for a few minutes before to twist and contort your body sideways to shimmy into it. Trying to use shower gel or shampoo your hair results in your elbows being knocked off the sides several times. Getting out of the shower there is absolutely no room to dry yourself. The double bed had a severe dip in the middle. This hotel is definitely not worth the money. It is really not the place you want to be heading back to after a long day sightseeing in London. My advice is to steer clear of this place and spend the extra few pounds and stay somewhere nicer. Leer más
"Minimalist accommodations in central London"
I was a little worried about a hotel this cheap in SW London, but this place was fine. Clean all around, friendly help at the front desk (literally went out of their way to help me), free wifi in lobby, comfy (albeit twin-sized) bed, TV in room, etc. It was definitely minimalist- there was barely any space in the room (I was amused at the cheap venetian […] blinds and single styrofoam cup in the bathroom), but for one person staying alone and not requiring luxury, it was totally fine. Location wasn't quite central, but it was a quick walk to the Natural History Museum, and a longer (but doable) walk to Kensington Gardens or Harrod's. There is wifi in the rooms, too, but it's not free. I'd happily stay here again. Closest tube station is Gloucester Street, on the Piccadilly line, which also goes to Heathrow, King's Cross, etc. Leer más

"Kensington Rooms, no frills but comfortable"
Kensington Rooms is a reasonably priced, comfortable, but no frills hotel. It was a five minute walk to the Underground and Earls Court. The room itself was comfortable but very basic. Hotel is fine for those just wanting to crash for the night(s). Paying extra for breakfast was unexpected and either missed or unclear in the hotel description. Real bummer? No internet to speak of. "Kensington Rooms"
The staff were very friendly and the hotel tried to present itself as very hip, but it was an odd place. It seems to be several buildings they put together into a hotel. What other explanation could there be for the 6 fire doors I had to go through between the elevator and my room. On the plus side, my room was very large and had ample armoire space. […] On the minus side was the lack of internet service in the rooms, a lackluster breakfast, and the narrow and sort of dingy hallways. "Kensington rooms hotel"
I booked this hotel for 1 night as I was going to a concert at the Royal Albert hall. For this, the hotel was ideally located within walking distance , but you may prefer to get a taxi if you're in high hells or if it's raining (Black cab cost us just under £4). We had a twin room which, although not massive - was plenty big enough for 2 friends - the […] bathroom actually had a bath which was a nice surprise and everything was clean and seemed in good repair. The corridors were a bit of a maze but as you may expect for a property of this type. The staff were really friendly, we were allowed to check in earlier than the advertised check in time and we also left our bags at the hotel on the day we checked out to save us dragging our cases around with us. All in all a great stay and I would recommend to others. Leer más
"Kensington Rooms in London"
This was in a nice area, with an easy walk to the subway. The rooms were clean with attractive modern decor and the beds were comfortable enough. The bathrooms were spacious and modern. But I thought it was overpriced. The staff were not the least bit friendly or helpful and either there was no lobby or the lobby was being used for a private affair. […] Also, on the day of check out, 3 different people either unlocked and entered my room or knocked to see about checking out. Talk about feeling thrown out! No warm and fuzzies here! Leer más

"Kensington rooms"
The hotel is nice but at night it's very noisy with the quite important traffic on Cromwell road. Difficult to sleep with ambulances and so on... One side of the bed being against the wall, difficult to get out of it if you don't want to disturb your partner.
"Good bargain"
Good location, friendly staff. Much better value than other hotels in the area. I would also book it in the future.
"Good value rooms in Kensington"
Before I booked my rooms I read the reviews of this hotel and they were mixed. But after comparing locations and features of hotel of similar price, I selected Kensington Rooms without much expectation. The hotel is located about 10 mins walk from Glocester Road tube station which is in London Zone 1 and very convenient to get to most tourist destination. […] The room was small (long and narrow) but clean, and it came with a small bathroom as well. There was a small TV, wardrobe, desk and double bed. Since I didn't expect much I was quite satisfied with the room except 1 thing - my room was located on Level 1 facing Cromwell Road (a major road with traffic) and it can be quite noisy at night (especially if there is ambulance or police car at night). Other than this I think this is a hotel that offers good value especially if you compare this to the Holiday Inn down the road and what they would charge for a room. Leer más
