"Old Waverley - great location"
A really good hotel, although I was a bit disappointed to see my tiny window was facing dirty windows of another building about 5 feet away rather than more spacious landscape. Really good location to Royal Mile, Arthur's Seat, train station. Really nice and friendly staff, good whiskey at the bar! :) I still don't understand the exaggerated price of […] buffet cooked breakfast which was simply not worth having - you'll get at least half the price out in town if you're not in a hurry. "Old Waveryly Hotel....a taste of Scotland"
This was my first visit to Scotland and I was thrilled with the "old world" atmosphere of the hotel. There were some renovations going on so I was disappointed we could not sit in front of the fireplace, but the staff was friendly and the downtown location was convenient to transportation to the airport. I would love to go back and stay at this hot […] el. Leer más

"Prime location"
The hotel allowed us to check in at 11:30 instead of 3 which is always a bonus! Surrounding area great. Bus line to airport is right across the street. We paid a little more for a room with a view and it was worth it. Hotel staff friendly. Wireless is not free and is a hit or miss. But a lot of the surrounding pubs have free wi-fi. Great place to stay […] and enjoy Scotland's city centre. Leer más
"The Old Waverley in Edinburgh"
An ideally placed hotel within a couple of minutes walk from the waverley station. The location is also excellent for going anywhere in the city centre. The room was clean and well furnished the bathroom especially. The staff were polite and helpful. All in all a good hotel in a fabulous city. My only gripe was a fan under the room window which could […] have grown irritating if I had spent more time in the room. Leer más
"Old Waverley Edinburgh"
Hotel fine. Location exceptionally fine. Food good. Unable to book in until 15.00 which is somewhat OTT, but are able to leave luggage before then.
"Full of Charm and Great Downtown Location"
I love this quirky hotel. The reception desk is on the 2nd floor so be prepared to climb a flight of stairs with your luggage. It is within walking distance of the train station, the best shopping in the city and the Royal Mile attractions. Staff is friendly and helpful. The room was plain but clean and bed comfortable.
"Good value, good location"
The Old Waverley is ideally situated on Princes Street, just a few minutes from Waverley rail station and buses to/from the airport. You have easy access to shopping on Princes, Rose, and George Street, and a quick walk across the Waverley bridge will get you to the Royal Mile. The hotel was comfortable enough, although the room was a bit small, even […] for European standards. Everything we experienced in the hotel was perfectly clean, and the staff were quite friendly and helpful. The only drawback is the proximity to Princes and Rose streets, and late-night revelers can be heard on the streets below - nothing unusual for a weekend night in Edinburgh. We've been to Edinburgh many times, and the Old Waverley is certainly the most conveniently located hotel in which we've stayed. We would definitely stay there again. Leer más
"The Old Waverley. Edinburgh"
Ideal Hotel for being in the centre of Edinburgh, lounge and bar looking onto Princess Street, which was very nice. Only problem with room was no window otherwise nice large room.
Comfortable, clean, perfect location and very helpful staff.
"Old Waverley Hotel in Edinburgh"
A centrally situated hotel in Edinburgh, short distances to buses, railway station, and main streets in town.
"old waverley hotel edinburgh"
My husband and I stayed at the Old Waverley in Edinburgh recently and would use this hotel again. Very central. We found the staff most helpful and the room lovely
"Perfect location"
This hotel is the perfect place to stay for a short visit to Edinburgh. You get the airport bus to Waverley Bridge, this takes 30 mins, you can see the hotel just across the road from the bridge. It is so central and convenient for all Edinburgh's sights and highlights. The room was spotless and comfortable. From our window we could actually see the […] castle. Top marks. Leer más
"Old Waverley"
The hotel had plenty of charm and was well maintained,I thought it was a perfect location near many attractions and train station a short five minute walk away. "We had a lovely time at the Waverley ......"
We stayed for two nights. The staff were very helpful in every way in storing our bags and very polite. The room was ok. The noise from the street was terrible, however I would definitely stay here again.
"A GREAT STAY!"
As Americans, you're never sure how you're going to be treated. ALL the folks at the Waverley were wonderful, and the front-desk workers were exceptional, making us feel so comfortable and welcome. The room was more than adequate, and very clean. On top of all this is the fact that the location couldn't have been better. Highly recommended!!!!
"Old Waverley .Can't beat location"
A charming old style hotel with an unbeatable location in central Edinburgh.100 meters from Air coach and Railway station.Hotel located in Princes street for the best shopping...Staff very helpful and pleasant.10 minutes walk to old town.Highly recommended.
"Perfect location"
As stated before, the central location couldn't be better - walking distance to the train station, airport bus drop-off, Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill, etc. The hotel also had a lot of charm and FREE internet access. The bed was a little small (a full size versus queen, but our room was quite cozy, though not uncomfortable), and there are […] several sets of stairs to climb before reaching reception. The former was manageable, and the latter is something to keep in mind, especially if you're elderly and/or toting lots of luggage. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Leer más
Old Waverly Hotel, Edinburgh, Scotland - close to train station, Royal Mile, restaurants, and shopping. Enjoyed meals, and staff.
"Amazing"
We had a first floor view of the park and it was amazing! When we were there, they were doing construction, so the street was unusually quiet at night, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be too noisy otherwise. The hotel staff was incredible, the room was clean and very spacious (by cheaper European standards). Recommend highly!
"Old waverly"
This hotel is conveniently located near Waverly station, princes street and a lot of other attractions. Rooms were nice, clean, and comfortable. Recommend stay here primarily for it's location.
"Fantastic location"
very nice stay
"Choose only for location"
This only reason to choose this hotel is is the location. It is right on Princess street within waling distance to the old town and close close to the train station . Also the tour buses are just across the street. Personally, I would prefer to pay more and stay in a better maintained hotel. The bathroom was updated so that was a plus. Theroom was a […] bit on the shabby side. and very small. It was not the type of room you would want to spend a great deal on time in. Chipped paint and the carpet had a couple of holes( looks like cigarette burns) The room was clean when I arrived but the housekeeping during my stay(4 days) was a bit sloppy. They do not pay attention to details. For example, there were two plastic disposable cups in the bathroom. I used the cups and of course disposed of them in the bin. They were not replaced for my entire stay. When the bed was made up part of the sheet was tucked under and the rest was left hanging. Also the reception ares is on the second floor but there is no elevator from the ground floor to the reception arena and it is a bit awkward carry luggage upstairs. Basically if you want a budget hotel in a good location it is not a bad choice but now that I am familiar with the area I think one can do much better and still be very central. Right now there is construction going on for the tram system which is being installed and Princes street was closed so it was relatively quiet but I can see it would be very noisy if the street were open since there is only single glazing on the very old windows. Fab location in Princes St. near all shops and entertainment, Hotel clean and staff helpful, 24hr bar also good. Would recommend .
"Convienent Location in Edinbourgh"
The hotel staff was nice and friendly. They allowed me to store my things in a secured closet since I arrived before check-in. Its right across the street from Jenner's Department store and may restaurants/bars within walking distance right behind Jenner's. The hotel was overall great, there is one small elevator that worked while I was there but there […] is a long wait for it. I stayed on the top floor - 6th floor and just took the stairs whenever going down - its not that bad! The only bad thing I have to say is about the noise at night. The hotel might not be able to do a whole lot about it though. There are no buildings across the street from the front entrance but it sounds like a freight train is outside the room when the wind blows hard. I say its nothing the hotel can do because I was a restaurant and heard the wind go through the same way there. But I did so much on my exploring that I was too tired to care too much. Leer más

"Good value hotel with superb location"
Nice hotel with good comfort and a superb location. I'd stay here again.
"Great location, needs new beds"
Overall a wonderful hotel. Great location, wonderfully friendly staff. We felt more springs than padding on the mattress and the room was incredibly hot. Very clean. Would stay here again but ask for a newer bed!

"Good value in the heart of Edinburgh"
I stayed one night on a business trip. The location is literally in the middle of town and a 2 minute walk from the train station. This is an old building with a quirky layout of rooms, but all is clean and well maintained. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. This is not a luxury American-style hotel, but I have stayed here with family and […] alone, and highly recommend it. Leer más

when we first went to our room we had two single beds when we had ordered a double bedroom, went down to the reception and told the receptionist about it and they were more than happy to sort it out and got free drinks at the bar while they did so. returned to the room and the single beds were pushed together, with king duvets on top. that didnt rain […] on our parade though. great room plenty of space, wonderful views down princess street and soo clean. would definately go back. "Don't expect Internet, but otherwise ok."
Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Those are the most important things to me! However, the "free internet" is non-existent unless you are standing at the front desk of the hotel- we never found a signal, and I saw several people wandering the hallways with their laptops looking for a signal! Also, don't plan on eating in the restaurant- […] the food was terrible. Seriously- it was bad. The good news is that there are plenty of outside cafes and restaurants that will do the trick! The location of the hotel is excellent- easy to access everything. Leer más

"Oh that awful bed"
All in all, I would love to recommend this hotel. It's in a central location, the hotel is clean, and the price is reasonable. However..... it was the worst bed I have ever slept in. I mean I've been in roach motels on the side of the interstate with better beds. The "mattress" was more like a box of springs with a sheet on it. Just plain awful. I had […] to have a few pints to have any chance of sleeping on that thing. Never again despite the other positives. Leer más
"Old Waverley - a little old, but nice"
Nice staff, great location, a litte over priced during the Edinburg Festival . The room they give us during our second stay, after a three days tours around Highlands, was very inferior to the first one.

beautiful old building on princes street,2 minute walk to bus station bus 100 30mins to airport, very easy.there is steps up to reception 1 floor up,the room i stayed in 115 lovely high ceilings, comfortable bed.Location fantastic, highly recommend this hotel.
"Old Waverly"
The name says it all , it is an old hotel, Staff were very helpful, the only thing is trying to get heavy suitcases from the front door to reception and then back out when you leave is atrocious, and no one to help. there must be 15 steps. position is terrific, great shopping close by , short work to the royal mile and Castle, was a fairly good price […] considering it was close to everything and the Fringe festival was on, breakfast is too expensive, internet free, If your just looking for a comfy room this is handy Leer más

"The Old Waverly"
This hotel is in a great location, on Princess Street, across from the Waverly train station and Princess Gardens and within walking distance to the Old Town. The reception is in one floor above the entrance and there is no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage one floor and if you have big or heavy suitcases it could be a problem. There is an […] elevator on the reception floor to go to the upper floors. We stayed in an inside room with no view but quiet, the bathroom modern and the room had air conditioning. The staff was very attentive and the view from the bar/restaurant area is beautiful. Leer más
"Perfect locale and most comfortable stay"
We toured four cities in Scotland and found this hotel experience to be our favourite. While we had no view from our window, the bed was extremely comfortable and the bath clean, roomy and modern. There is no doubt that we will stay there again and recommend the place to family and friends. We arrived on the train from London and got off at Waverly […] Station. This location was so very convenient. It was walking distance to all of the things we wanted to see from the Castle to Holyrood House. The front desk and bar staff were delightful, and the prices reasonable. We didn't make it to eat in the dining room, but the space looked charming and the menu satisfactory. We are from North America and recognize that not all places we might stay in Europe will match the standards we have come to expect - especially when dealing with historical properties in Europe or Asia. However, even though we are always willing to give allowances for this when we travel, none were needed here. Kudos to the Old Waverly! Leer más
"A delightful and comfortable stay."
Within walking distance of many areas of interest as well as great restaurants, stores, etc. Anytime we needed a taxi, they called one for us. If we needed help with our bags, directions, and such, all we had to do was ask. The food was excellent as well. We still wanted to tour the city after we checked out, and they let us leave our bags in a secure […] area until we returned. The only thing that was unclear was that they charged extra for rooms with a view of the castle. We didn't mind not having a view, though, since we were only there to sleep. We liked that we had control of the temperature in our room, the room was kept clean during our visit, and there were heated towel racks in the bathroom. I would definitely stay here again should I ever return to Edinburgh. Leer más
"Old Waverly in Princes Street"
This is a super 3* hotel with 5* service - which lives up to expectations. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms I have stayed in have been modernised and are extremely clean and fresh.
"Old Waverley Hotel in Edinburgh - lovely hotel in"
We stayed at the Old Waverley for 3 nights. It was, by far, the nicest place we stayed during our 2-1/2 weeks in the UK. Our room on the 6th floor was beautiful, quite spacious by UK standards, very comfortable for the three of us (2 adults and one teenager), and had a great view of the castle, art museum, and monuments. Since we were traveling via […] rail, the location so close to Waverley Station was ideal. The only downsides were that the mattresses were a tad lumpy -- which seemed incongruent with the overall quality of the place and made sleeping difficult for one member of our family -- and the breakfast buffet was pricey. Although the food was good, we would have appreciated a less expensive alternative for the mornings when we wanted only a light breakfast. Leer más
"Brilliant location"
We booked the Old Waverley last minute and to be honest didn't have overly high expectations given the location and entrance. Once you climb up the stairs though you are in a lovely hotel with a lot of character which the owners are clearly working hard to maintain in good condition. Wonderful views from both the bedrooms and bar/dining room. Would […] definitely go back. Leer más
"Waverly...close to everything, but inconvenient"
The hotel lobby is on the second floor and you must fight your way past vengeful glass doors and when we were there you must negotiate past wet paint. No help with the luggage as we struggled up the stairs, rooms were small and spartan. It may be that way in all Edinburg hotels, but given the economy I thought things were over priced. Others at the […] hotel were more sanguine; I suppose their room may have had a better view. Leer más
