"Great hotel opens to the Grand Canal"
Clean, good sized room. Restaurant and bar that open to the Grand Canal. Great breakfast with eggs, yogurt, juices, croissants, toast, bacon, etc. Big breakfast for Italy. Easy 10 minute walk to all of the major tourist spots. Helpful concierge as well. Would stay there again.
"Ca'Favretto - Very nice"
The front desk staff was amazing. very helpful and courteous. This Hotel is real old world charm, it's like being a guest in a museum of fine art. The breakfast was very good except it gets a little crowded. Great hotel for Venice - Recommended

"Wonderful accommodation"
Our recent stay at the San Cassiano Ca'Favretto was better than expected, based upon some unfavorable reviews. We selected the upgraded canal view room, and received room 105. The room was quite large, the view over the canal was perfect, and the bed quite comfortable. Unusual for European hotels, the bath had a full shower curtain, and was fully appointed. […] Great breakfast selections, and courteous, professional staff. Would certainly stay there again. Leer más
"Nice stay"
Charming hotel, good service. Bathroom curtain didn't stopped the water leaking no matter how careful we were. We eventually secured shower curtain on each side with weights and put rolled towels on the sides of the bathtub - this worked. Heating didn't work most of the time, including the towel rack in the bathroom. This was especially a problem because […] it was very rainy during our stay and we weren't able to dry our clothes. "Great stay! Very quiet, safe, clean!"
This was a very convenient hotel with a super breakfast! The room was nice--with enough room--plus a large closet—plus very quiet! The TV was nonexistence for us--very tiny. Besides who cares about TV when you’re in Venice! The only issue we had is that no one at the front desk seemed very knowledgeable about some very basic information about how to […] get to the hotel and St. Mark info. We had called ahead for clarification on the directions to the hotel from here and their website and they didn’t know how to get to the hotel!? Once we arrived a man at the front desk told us that St. Marks had Mass every hour on the hour on Sundays--didn't trust that so we went earlier than planned and good thing we did since we just caught the last mass. Overall just a very nice if not fancy hotel. Would definitely stay here again just for the QUIET location and the SUPER breakfast. Plus the staff was very nice—if not extremely informative. Now on the directions on both websites (at the time we went) the directions said to get off of the water bus at the Ca’D”Oro station which is actually across the canal from where you need to be. Be sure to take the S. Stae water bus station. We bought a pass and used it endlessly. Trying to find the hotel we finally had to stop and buy a bottle of wine and ask for directions—which were all given to us in sign language! But we did find the hotel. Very helpful! IF you hire a taxi the cost is around $75--which is what we paid for a 3 day water bus pass. If you don’t want to take your chances: Here are walking directions from S. Stae water bus drop: as you get off the bus go straight off the bus and head left in front of the church looking building, there you will see a footbridge over a small canal. Once over the short footbridge take a right (only choice). Take a left at the second narrow passageway-Calle Del Forner (street). Keep going over another footbridge now the street is Calle Del Ravano (you will be going over 2 footbridges). Take a left Leer más

"San Cassiano Ca'Favretto"
A great stay - totally good value - excellent location if you are happy walking through the streets and alleyways of Venice - not far from the fish market and the Rialto bridge - clearly sign posted once you are within a few hundred metres - great choice of breakfast food with lovely views onto the Grand Canal - all staff friendly and good natured and […] were appreciative of our attempts to speak Italian...we would stay there again. "Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto, Venice Grand Canal"
Our second stay, and again a wonderful experience. Even a little better as we had a room with windows opening onto the Grand Canal. And again the breakfast buffet was excellent. A great place to enjoy a night in Venice!!
"Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto, Venice Grand Canal"
Wonderful historic hotel, well maintained and view of the Grand Canal terrific. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Service is excellent as well. Location is great. A great way to enjoy a stay in Venice.
"A lot closer to a 3-star experience..."
Whilst a charming building and a former palazzo, the quality of both the service (particularly one of the front-desk staff, Misu) and the furnishings and amenities (toiletries, extra services, pillows, etc), the overall experience felt like an underwhelming 3-star hotel...

"Romantic gateaway weekend"
The hotel is really good the only thing that was a bomer was that the room and balcony are small and breakfast average but the overall quality and place really good. We had a great time.
"Good Hotel; Hard to Find"
The service was friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is much more a converted Venetian mansion than a standard hotel, and has a real local atmosphere in a town where far too many hotels now have no character inside. The rooms were well air conditioned, and had good beds and bathrooms but were small. Good breakfasts and a good bar, and some very […] good local restaurants in walking distance where the front desk gave accurate recommendations. Do, however, call or email to make sure you get the right local boat connections and don't trust the hotel location maps on the web. They imply the hotel is a street further north than it really is, and don't show how hard it can be to find. Get a map from the Hotel. It is, however, right across the Grand Canal from the Casa D-Oro, and five minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge. A great location for either using the local boats or walking. Leer más
"Hotel San Cassiano, lovely Venitian hotel"
We enjoyed our stay at San Cassiano; it is a lovely old Venetian Hotel. Just what you would want to experience in Venice. Ornate gold carved headboards, beautiful Morano glass chandeliers and antique furniture. The staff treats you like royalty. The breakfast in the lovely breakfast room each morning overlooking the Grande Canal was spectacular. The […] hotel is in close walking distance to a Vaparetto stop and all the sights. "good location, helpful staff"
The hotel was a good place to stay for location -close to the water taxi stand and in a good neighborhood. desk staff were helpful. Having breakfast out on the patio overlooking the canal was a great way to start the day. The hotel was very clean and quiet - a good place to stay out of the mainstream of traffic but close enough to the main sights.
"Hotel San Cassiano in Venice"
My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was very attentive. It has everything that you go to Venice to see. It is right on the Grand Canal although it is a walk of about 2 city blocks from the San Sae boat stop. The breakfast was very nice and it is easier to leave your bags with them after you check out rather than carrying […] them with you. The beds are hard but welcome to Europe. "Great location, decent rooms"
Venice is very expensive and I don't know what you get for your money in other places. We booked this hotel thinking we were splashing out. It's a lovely building and a great location. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast is decent. The rooms are small and not very bright - that's probably a common issue with all rooms in Venice, but […] be prepared for a small room. Everything is well maintained and in very good condition. Bathroom is great. Like much of Venice, you may feel like your money didn't go very far with this hotel, but we felt like considering the location, it represented decent value. Leer más

"Great hotel"
We had a room with view on the grand canal... it was magic
"Beautiful Venice - Very expensive!"
We had a beautiful room overlooking a side canal and the Grand Canal. It was on the second floor and just remember there are no elevators. This is true for most of Venice and I won't recommend this city if you have a problem with climbing stairs as there are hundreds of bridges to cross. Even as a young 36 year old I found it tiresome and I do run 30km […] per week! The room was comfortable and very clean. It was on the same floor as the breakfast room and I found it very annoying to be woken up every morning by kitchen noise and other guest's loud talking. The Breakfast room is very tiny and you might have to wait to be seated. The breakfast itself is not spectacular and very basic with no personal service. The TV channels , there are 4, one English News, one French and two Italian. Our remotes batteries kept in place by sellotape. There was extra pillows in the closet and towels were changed if you left them on the floor. Staff in general are very helpful and will try their best to accomadate. The rate is to expensive for what you get and we found it ridiculous that we had to pay to use the internet. There was also no WiFi in the Hotel. Is this a four star hotel? Leer más

"Venice in December"
Had a lovely four night stay at the Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto in Venice. Fabulous location, a short walk to the Vaperatto, but also an easy walk to Rialto. "San Casiano Ca Favretto, Venice"
Unfortunately our stay was dissapointing, we were booked into 2 rooms for 3 nights, a double and a twin, on our arrival the Manager appologised that the rooms we would have for our first noght were not as requested, they were in fact two very small single rooms with dressing tables removed and a further bed added, one room so small that after oppening […] the door there was no where to go but on and over the beds. We were promised to be re located to double rooms with a canal view, which happened on day 2 these were nice but unfortunately we received maid servic to only one, after notifying the desk we were told sorry, and asked if would we like fresh towels? The buffet breakfast is fine except the hot menu items which were poor quality and cold. The bar staff were very friendly and helpfull and the stay could have been good but I felt that desk staff and Management were dis interested, on booking out we were not asked how our stay had been nor offered an appology, it did sadly mar our 3 night stay. "Old Venice"
The hotel is historic. It has been remodeled and updated, however, it still maintains the feel of an old hotel with the chandeliers, flooring and decorations. It is wonderful to weave in and out of all the tiny […] streets. I recommend the hotel highly unless you have an aversion to walking. Leer más

"Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto in Rome"
We had one day in Rome before our cruise and arrived early that day from Toronto. The front desk was exceptional. Even though check -in wasn't until the afternoon, they made our early arrival very pleasant and trouble free. We were able to stow our luggage and secure our valuables while we toured Rome until our rooms were ready. They suggested the "Ciao […] Roma" open tour bus that completed a circuit of most of the major attractions in Rome. It ended up being a great way to see Rome as you could disembark at any stop and get back on whenever you wanted. Buses came every 30 minutes. Well worth the tour. The rooms were very clean and comfortable for us and our two teenage boys. I forgot his name but the bell hop was a very nice and helpful man. Wouldn't accept a tip no matter how hard we tried, he said he was happy and it was part of his job. Again, very helpful and friendly front desk personel. Well spoken English by everyone, certainly not an issue in Rome. Great location for a hotel, easily accessible by limo and the train station is right around the corner. Never felt uncomfortable or at unease our entire stay, we felt very safe. We would definitely stay there again, their staff made the difference. Great job! Leer más

"Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto - grossly overrated"
This ancient building-the only claim to fame being that it was once a beautiful mansion-is not fit to be a hotel - i mean for the price you pay. the room looks like a jaded palace from a B grade movie set. Good things first-courteous employees and good breakfast. We asked for a family room- they just provided an extra folding bed (I must say they did […] a fantastic job of making it look like the rest of the furniture). And the bathroom was the smallest you'll ever see - even for european hotels. When you sit at the toilet, your knees are literally under the washbasin and too close to the wall. then there's a bidet and shower too. all in that cramped space. The wooden floors and beams make it a noisy night if you have guests in the room above. All in all maybe 2 stars at the price of 4 stars. Definitely not reccommended for the price we paid for the so called 'family' room. Next time in venice, seek the familair brand name hotels - even if you are outside "venice' and avoid the so called boutique ones. Leer más
"Fell in love with Venice and this hotel"
The hotel was as charming as I expected. Web site info was accurate. We booked a Quad Room for 4. It ended up being , what I would call a suite, 2 bedrooms and a bath. Very large. Breakfast or drinks overlooking the Grand Canal was wonderful. Not a long walk from major sights.
"If you like a pretty headboard, stay here."
First the good thing about this hotel. The headboard was very beautiful. And, for the most part the staff was very helpful (more on this later). Now the bad news. First, the hotel is impossible to find if you are not familliar with Venice. We arrived by train from Florence, showed the hotel confirmation at the Information Counter, and were told to take […] the Vaporetto to the San Stae stop. When we got off there, with our very heavy luggage, we had no clue where we were or any clue how to find the hotel. We felt like Butch Cassidy when he got off the train in Bolivia. We looked at maps and tried a few deadend routes (oops, this one ends in the water), but were totally lost. Finally we worked with some helpful passers by (which were few, since this was a nearly deserted, uninteresting location, especially by Venice standards), and found the hotel on the map and plotted a route. We had to lug our luggage (now I know why they call it that) over 3 bridges and down some long, narrow alleys until we finally found the hotel. We checked in and were assigned a room on the 3rd floor. Okay, where's the elevator? Sorry, there is none, take the stairs - all 51 of them (and very steep). The poor bellman who had to drag our bags up those stairs. The room was small, the bathrrom was tiny (you practially had to back out because you could hardly turn around in it). We paid for a sid canal view but we had a great view of a really ugly building next door. The area where the hotel was located is great, if you want to be left alone. It was not really close to anything. You could walk to Rialto Bridge in about 10 minutes, and San Marco in about 25 (although they told us 15). And you had to use maps to get anywhere since it was so secluded. Back to the hotel. We asked if they had Internet service. They said they had WiFi service that we could purchase. We chose 6 hours for 8 Euros. They wanted us to come down to get the userid and password. I said 51 steps down and up? Okay, they gave me the Leer más

"Great place to stay in Venice"
Venice was the best place I stayed at, partly because of the San cassiano. The staff was very friendly, unlike other places we stayed at where we got the impression that they hated Americans.
