If you live in Cairns, this is a great place with friendly service. I had a very pleasant stay and really enjoyed their pool. Great view over the water and up the esplanade. So close to everything(exept main shopping center). Very helpful and friendly staff at reception. But room was a bit run down,old TV,extra charging for room safe?? Cleaners did not doing their job for 4* hotel.

We stayed here during a trip to the great barrier reef. The hotel was in a good downtown location on the esplanade and was exactly what we needed for our weekend. Staff was friendly and our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Would recommend staying here.

Hotel was about a 10 minute walk along the beachside to the Piers. It was a couple blocks away from the shops, which meant it was very peaceful during the night. Ocean view room is highly recommended.

Your hotel was as we expected, but it would have make our reception easier if there were automatic doors on the entry.

This hotel was a perfect gateway for the Barrier Reef and other sites for this region. There is an airport hotel shuttle that makes the rounds of the hotels (purchase ticket just outside of airport baggage claim) This hotel overlooks the park/boardwalk that runs along the ocean and is close to all the nightlife and restaurants (2 blocks north) but […] far enough away that we were able to enjoy the balcony and not have a lot of street noise. Front Desk staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a travel advisory group in the main lobby that will assist with your bookings either on site or call ahead of your arrival and your tickets will be waiting. The restaurant was very nice with part of the seating outdoors and part indoors. The pool meanders alongside the inner courtyard and is very pretty. There is a separate area on the main floor for group functions and other facilities. Two blocks from the hotel is the start of restaurants, shops and nightlife. We were able to walk to all of the in town places we wished to visit, including the warf area where we embarked on an amazing 8 hour trip to the barrier reef. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Added bonus was the great price we locked in through Hotels.com Room and bedding were very comfy. Internet was available for a smallish fee. Only thing lacking in the room was a room safe (there was availability at the front desk). Leer más

Great service and location great. Had booked romantic weekend in deluxe ocean view room however was supplied with two double beds and no ocean view. Room was clean but outdated with small old television. All the sliding doors need maintenance as we could hear all neighbouring rooms opening and closing the doors which sounded like thunder each time one […] was used. Good comfortable hotel on the seafront about 100m from the centre of Cairns. Very helpful desk for booking tourist trips (rain forests, sky diving, barrier reef) with good advice. Full breakfast in the ajourning restaurant is OK but seems a little pricy. Internet available in rooms but reception does not have a free WIFI area like other hotels

I was disappointed about the TV they provided in the room. Now a days flat screen TVs are so cheap, the set provided was an old 20" CRT tv. There was no DVD player available, and even you have one you cannot connect one. They should also provide more plates and spoons in the room if you decided to have take away food.

Confortable spacious hotel within reach of all of central Cairns. Great views of the water, esplanade and boardwalk. Helpful and friendly staff especially Jenny and Deborah on the tour desk. Watching the sunrise just fantastic!

Housekeeping on two occasions forgot to re-stock coffee etc.Once, forgot to wash coffee cups and wipe down area.The bathroom was a mess at one time as water was splashed all over sink and mirrow, we are tidy people and left bathroom cleaner than it was on our return.We had a great time and will return in the future.

Cold showers ( we were advised by management to let the water run for 20 minutes and then try again.The water has to come from the basement-still only luke warm shower) ,could hear all noises from next door bathroom . The pipes and tiolet flush very loud when you are trying to sleep-kept me awake. The room was not serviced on one occasion, we were out […] all morning and came home to catch up on sleep so it was our fault because they only cleaned rooms in afternoon.They did give us tiolet paper when requested.The room was not ready when we arrived so we had to wait. I will never stay at rydges again. They had insufficent car park spaces and wanted to charge $10 a night for unground park. They wanted to charge $3.30 a day to use in room safe. Would not accept credit card for any additional charges without charging a fee. Laundry was excessively expensive. maid service was poor, some days forgot to empty the rubbish […] bins, forgot the milk, tea and sugar replacement some days and did not make the bed properly some days. the indian housemaid was hopeless and there seemed to be no quality control on the service and when I rang to get the tea and milk replenished that the maid forgot, they still did not bother bringing it to the room. Very poor overall for a 4star hotel and rediculous extra charges. they are obviously not interested in return customers. Leer más

WE HAD A FANTASTIC STAY .THE ACCODMATION WAS EXCELLENT.WE WERE GIVEN A UP GRADE,WHICH WAS GREAT.THE ROOM WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL.THE VIEW WAS SPECTAULAR.WE HAD BREAKFAST AT RESTAURANT &THAT WAS LOVERLY.WE WOULD DEFINATELY COME AGAIN.

The hotel was very nice, staff was friendly and helped us gladly in everything and the hotel room was perfect. We were completely happy with our stay and can definetely recommend the hotel to others.

The hotel rooms are FAR from what I'm used to being a 4 star hotel in the states; however, it was clean, convenient, and the entire staff was outstanding!

Great rooms all with exceptional tropical views; some better than others. Only wished I hadn't arrived during the rainy season. Staff very helpful; even helped me set up a reef tour. Can't not comment on the restaurant; was told that there would be a wait of more than an hour because they were packed. Everyone there seem to be enjoying themselves.

Very nice and convenient place to stay while in Cairns. Concerge was very helpful. Would be even nicer if they provided transportation to and from the airport.

We stayed in Cairns for 4 nights at the end of a month long stay around Australia. We stayed in similar standard of hotel all the way round and the Rydges Tradewinds was by far one of the best. Our room was located on the 6th floor. It was a very large room with an amazing view right out over the pool and then the ocean. The bed was massive and amazingly […] comfortable. All staff were very friendly especially all on reception. We had room service a couple of times and the food was very good. We also ate in the restaurant for breakfast - very good and probably the cheapest breakfast we had the whole time in Oz! While lounging by the pool on our last day we even had some cocktails and lunch - very nice although I wouldn't recommend the Thai Beef Salad (just a little too watery for my liking!) Rydges Tradewinds was wonderrful place to stay. They were above and beyond any expectations, their service was wonderful and would recommend them to anyone.

We chose this hotel after reading several positive reviews on this website, but we were very disappointed in our stay. We were on the 4th floor and the entire hallway smelled like mold and the ceilings had mold throughout. Our room was not much better, the carpets were dirty and looked at least 10 years old. We got a room with two "double" beds, but […] my wife and I could barely fit in one of them. The comforters were equally old and worn, the mattress was uncomfortable, and the sheets were extremely cheap. We heard that they were renovating the hotel, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until it is thoroughly rennovated. Leer más

Hotel is in a great location to the City Center, also far enough if you want to have some quite time. Hotel needs updating and. We did not eat meals at the Hotel as there are lots of retaurants nearby. Room rates could be better or at least includes the breafast on the present rates.

There is a good view over the water and up the esplanade. The Hotel has been well maintained but a little more effort from the painter not to brush adjoining surfaces like kick boards etc, would make the renovations look much better. The hotel is on the end of the main strip of the Esplanade which was perfect for us. Nice and quiet but still centrally located. The restaurant ("Sea Level") was excellent and much less expensive that other restaurants on the strip. The pool was clean and beautifully kept with a lovely fountain. Excellent location (right behing all of the restaurants and shopping spots. Older Hotel with very Large and spacious rooms, but, this should really be advertyised as an apartment as there was no housekeeping service, and we were required to take out our own trash. Nice hotel right on the boardwalk next to the ocean. No swimming in the ocean though. The "beach" is like a muddy swamp durning low tide all around cairns, plus you have the stingers and crocadiles. beach towels are a pretty cheap one time payment and you can trade them in during your stay. We stayed in the hotel 2 nights and found it really good. Even though we arrived early, we were offered a room; the hotel is about 5 min walk from the main street of Cairns, which is not far at all. Ocean View rooms actually face the ocean, which is really nice. There is a nice restaurant downstairs and their own travel agency down at the lobby - they […] can book all your reef tours right there. Comfortable and convenient. Housekeeping services were good. Breakfast at Latitude 137 was very good. limited TV facilities - no set top box or DVD player. Ambience pleasant and close to restaurants etc.

This was a great place to stay for a much needed rest-location was excellent right on the Esplanade. Step outside and you're on the boardwalk and can easily walk to all Cairns has to offer-Marina, Lagoon, numerous eating places. The tour desk staff were very friendly and helful with bookings, and pick up from hotel was nice way to go. A nice hotel with comfortably appointed rooms. The pool is good, and the bar/restaurant reasonable, although the menu is limited. A second restaurant is closed, we never learned why. Room service basically OK, but providing cutlery without a specific request would have made it better!
