We recently stayed overnight as my daughter had an early appointment at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Hotel was easy to find; the only downside to the location is the lack of parking, and nowhere to set-down outside. The hotel recommends the hotel across the road for parking, however we arrived late and that car park closed at 7pm. We parked at the […] NCP car park at the Imperial Hotel, on the same side of the road and less than 2 minute's walk. No bother at all. Check-in staff were friendly and very helpful. We stayed in a 3-bed family room, and for central London, the room was huge. Facilities great, no complaints. There was some traffic noise, but nothing too much to worry about. I found the bed was too soft for my liking, but no complaints from my wife and daughter. We didn't try any of the food or drink, so can't comment, but based on our stay, if we need to return to GOSH, we'll definitely stay here again - price via Hotels.com was a real bargain too! At this price I had expected a little more. Service was confusing with most new employees and the consierge had no pull on anything. My room was very small, but ok. My friend got a huge room with three beds for the same price..

Good quality, friendly helpful reception. Couldn't see the TV from the bed in my single room.

They just finished the refurbishment outside, so the scaffolding came down the day we arrived. It was a nice clean & modern hotel with a nice king size bed, big TV and a reasonably large european bathroom. I will never stay in this hotel again. They were rude. Didn't have my room on time and had to wait and they still didn't clean the room. They also charged us for smoking in the room and we don't even smoke. Poor excuse for a hotel.

A clean, modern hotel but rooms and bathroom (well mine anyway) were small even by London standards, especially for London hotels in this price bracket. I'd use again but best for overnight stops only because of the room sizes - not a place to need to bed down for a week.

We stayed one night on new years eve, we requested an early check in and although it could not be guaranteed as soon as we arrived at the hotel 2 hours before check in we were told the room was ready for us. I found the reception very clean and high quality and the Taff were very friendly and helpful and their overall service is brilliant, I would defiantly […] stay again. Stayed here on New Year's eve as wanted to be within 10 minutes walk of fireworks. Room was small for the price but I expected to be taken advantage of at this time of year. Otherwise all was good.

Just to note that as of Dec 11 there is scaffolding on the front of the building but I'm sure it will soon be gone

The scaffolding is still there. It blocks any view from the rooms but more importantly it irritated me that we werent notified of this before booking. The fire alarm went off twice for a few minutes during the night - although i expect this doesnt happen all the time! Otherwise, the rooms were nice (but small) and the staff friendly. Hotel is still being renovated on the outside but no distubances to us. Most of the renovations completed inside and looks well. Room is pretty small, much smaller than the room pics. We chose this hotel for its location in central london however although the map was accurate we managed to walk past it several times as there was scaffolding across its frontage and signage was obscured. We reported this to Receptionist who said everyone complains. This could be remedied by placing a sign on the scaffolding or a note when booking (but […] I guess this would put people off staying). It is a very nice place to stay, close to everything and the personnel are very kind. More expensive would be to much but I think the price paid was good for the location.

This was a nice find thanks Hotels.com good hotel, good price, recently refurbished to a good standard, nice clean rooms all you need. Good value fixed price evening meal. Overall happy to recommend

I have stayed at this hotel several times and it is consistently good - friendly and helpful staff, and newly refurbished rooms. The outside is covered in scaffolding at present but this did not affect my stay.

This newly refurbished hotel is in an excellent location. Service was very good, the room was small but contained everything I needed. Highly recommended.

Recently changed to Mercure brand and rennovated throughout - in fact still smelt a little of new paint! Room was clean and relativey spacious as I was allocated a disabled room, so larger and bigger bathroom. Satff were courteous on reception. The restaurant is not open yet (being rebuilt), but there are plenty of restaurants and shops very close by […] to the left and right of the hotel entrance. A very nicely refurbished hotel in a good location but surely they should have told me the kitchen was closed when I check in! Instead I found out late evening that there was no room service or food available anywhere in the hotel.

It's always nice to stay in a newly refurbished hotel isnt it. The Mercure felt clean, tidy and box fresh. But Im afraid that was the only redeeming feature. I had a room facing Southhapmton Row - which was like wacky races until 4am. But I accept that if you stay in Central London, that's what you have to put up with. The front desk staff were pleasant […] enough, but seemed quite disinterested and had no sense of urgency. The website fails to point out that the onsite brasserie is under going refurbishment and there is therefore no food on the premises. Luckily there are loads of restaurants around, but if you fancy room service... bring a packed lunch! Room was nice enough. Very small (but you get what you pay for) and you had to perch on the end of the bed if you wanted to watch the television (nothing a swivel bracket wouldnt sort out!). You could easily walk past the hotel as its hidden well. Perhaps a Mercure flag above the door is in order? Overall, 6/10. Leer más

Rommene var mindre enn ventet og romstandarden bare middels, Veldig lytt, Falsk brannalarm to ganger i 5-6 tiden om morgenen natt til søndag dro jo ikke helhetsinntrykket opp. Nøkkel som ikke virket ved ankomst var også et minus. Vi övernattade en natt i ett trebäddsrum. Rummen var rena och allt var nyrenoverat och fräscht. Sängarna var lite korta men annars helt ok. Standarden motsvarade helt tre och en halv stjärna. Trevligt område med mycket restauranger och serveringar. Hotellet ligger på en gata som är trafikerad dygnet runt. Men vårt rum var bra isolerat jämfört med många […] andra hotell i London. gutes Mittelklassehotel hatte ein Zimmer im 7. Stock - sehr ruhig - allerdings sehr windig. Auch durch die geschlossenen Fenster war die Wind zu spüren. Sehr kleine Zimmer.

Pænt hotel. Værelset var megt lille, men pænt og rent. Virkede som om det var et ekstra værelse de havde indrettet, idet det virkede meget småt og lidt klemt på badeværelset. Ingen liv i restauranten og på hotellet på trods af, at der var fuldt booket. Måske p.g.a. af ombygning.

I booked a single room and checked in at the same time as my collegue but got a much worse room although we payed the same amount.. The key card didn't work at check in so the cleaning lady let me in. There was no remote to the air condition, and the room was very cold. When I called reception the reply was "the AC is set and cannot be changed". I called […] a few hours later and wanted a remote, since I couldn't sleep with cold air blowing directly into my face. They called back twice and then said (in the middle of the night) they didn't know where it was and that they didn't have a spare. The next day I called again and suddenly they turned up with the remote marked with my room number... They didn't want to answer my question about what had happened to it. In the afternoon, the key card didn't work again. They "reactivated" it but it still didn't work. Finally, a member of staff followed me to my room and tried to open the door. It didn't work, so the conclusion was that there was something wrong with the lock in the door. I said I wanted another room, and was given the double room next door (which was nice). when I said that I was not satisfied with my stay I got the reply "sorry about that" but no compensation whatsoever. I had expected a voucher or at least one free breakfast. Many in the staff are not very good at English. The breakfast is too expensive (17 pounds). The single beds are short (my feet were hanging from the end of the bed and I'm only 173 cm). There are seven floors but only one lift which is occupied most of the time. Will definitely NOT recommend this hotel to anyone or stay in any of Mercure's hotels ever again! There are much better hotels in London. Leer más

Dieses Hotel hat uns sehr gefallen. Sauber, schönes Badezimmer, alles in bester Ordnung. Die Betten waren ein wenig zu weich, aber das ist jammern auf hohem niveau... Westend, Leicester Square etc gut zu Fuss erreichbar.

Good sized double room for such a central location. (5th floor) Clean and nice as most Mercure hotels. Location on Southampton Road is handy. Parallel road to Tottenham Court Road so very central. Handy restaurants and shops outside. While also close to my meetings by the Barbican. Recommended.

Beliggenheten var ein drøm i forhold til mine mat-ønsker. 50 meter til Pizza Hut. Det var også apotek og ein kiosk rett utenfor hotellet. Rommet var laga for funksjonshemmet person. Heile golvet på badet var ein einaste stor dusj. I tillegg var det ikkje vindu på hverken rommet eller badet. Aircondition hjalp heldigvis på. Men det gjorde ein sjølvsagt […] forkjøla dagen etterpå. Ca kl 12 om kvelden var kveldsvakten meeeget misfornøyd med at ein gjekk ut for å kjøpe brus og komme tilbake rett etterpå. Leer más

Vi hade en jättebra vistelse, var en grupp på 12 pers som de hjälpte till att koordinera. Bra läge, nära tunnelbana och man kunde också ta 20 minuters promenad in till stan/big ben/picadilly. Rekommenderas varmt. Det enda tråkiga var att de öll på att renovera restaurangen precis när vi var där, så man fick gå över på andra sidan gatan för att käka […] frukost. Annars var allt super. Bra prisvärt hotell vid Russell Square. Huvudingången och trapporna byggdes om under november 2010, vilket skapade en del problem om man har mycket bagage och skall in genom restaurangen och upp i personalhissen. Stedet var under oppussing og dermed var inngangen lagt via restauranten. Et dårlig førsteinntrykk ble ikke bedre av at heisen var eneste måte å komme seg opp til rommene på. Trappen var således stengt under oppussingen. Det betydde ganske lang ventetid i rushtiden for å komme seg til/fra frokost gjennom hotellets eneste heis. Riktignok ble man meget […] positivt overrasket over rommene som var strøkne og ferdig nyoppusset. Flatskjerm, aircondition, gratis høyhastighets internett og rene bad gjorde i sum opplevelsen god. Frokosten var helt middels, klassisk engelsk sådan. Ikke i midten av smørøyet dette, men kort vei til Russell Square t-bane og derfra kun ett par stopp til sentrale deler av london. Anbefales når oppussingen er ferdig. Ved juletider 2010 burde alt være i skjønneste orden. Leer más
