Royal British Hotel

EL hotel esta muy bien ubicado, son amables, pero la habitacion no estaba muy limpia (la moqueta parecia no haber sido limpiada desde hace bastante tiempo). La falta de limpieza es para mi el mayor problema de este hotel.

Perfect location for Edinburgh shopping/hogmanay, but I woke up with a kink in my neck every morning from sub-par bed, the bathroom is beyond small (barley could bend over in shower, sink sticks out a bit into toilet area, no place to put toiletries). I didn't have warm much less hot water until running water for 30 minutes and bedding is old/out-dated. […] Fine enough if you're good cheap motel quality, but not for a comfortable stay. I really enjoyed my stay at the Royal British hotel. The Staff was extremely helpful and kind which made my stay wonderful. My room was cozy and the bed was very extremely comfortable. There was tea and shortbread in the room that was very enjoyable. I loved the historical feel of the hotel for it was built in 1820. The hotel is very close to the shopping, […] restaurants, Waverley Train Station, the castle, and other attractions. They offers free Wi-fi that had excellent reception and there is a restaurant in hotel that served very good food. They were kind to stored my luggage while I took a tour (I was only allowed a small bag) and when I got back they helped me plan the rest of my stay in Edinburgh. The Royal British Hotel is within walking distance of all the must-see sights in Edinburgh. Step outside and you are on Princes Street where all major stores and restaurants are also located along with Waverly Transportation center.

The Royal British Hotel is in a great spot in town. You are right in the tourist area, close to the rail line, restaurants, sights, and shopping. I would definitely recommend this place.

GREAT location! The airport bus drops you almost directly in front of the hotel. You can walk to all major tourist sites, pubs and shopping. The front desk was very helpful. VERY hot showers. The only thing this hotel had going for it is the location, right across from the Waverly train station. The hotel was rundown and the room was dirty. The carpet and walls were dirty in the halls and rooms. The hotel is situated right near a club that had music blaring late into the night. I would not recommend you stay there....especially for the price […] we paid. I have stayed at WAY nicer places in big tourist cities for less! Leer más

Hotel is tired with worn carpets. Good location and room seemed OK. Room signs can be misleading and easy to get confused. TV had to be sorted. Staff friendly and breakfast was OK.

I was requiring “a bed for the night” prior to a mid morning flight from Edinburgh to Jersey. I knew about the Royal British Hotel, having frequently used its “Heidi’s Pantry” for lunch, prior to a Matinee performance at some of Edinburgh’s Theatres. My room was on the 4th floor, and the elevator only goes up to the 3rd, which as no big deal, But could've been a problem if i didn't like stairs. Shower only seemed to run cold, which was fine for me as i was only staying one night, and like having a cold shower after my run in the morning I think a lot of people would've been quite frustrated by these […] 2 issues, but for me it was not an issue, and the location was perfect Leer más

Stayed at the Royal British Hotel Edinburgh for three nights. The room was excellent and modern. The hotel was centrally located which made it a great base from which to explore the city! We travelled by train and we happily surprised to see how close the hotel was when we arrived. The location is right in the middle of Edinburgh, it could not be more convenient. The hotel was quite nice, we got one of the renovated rooms and it was fine. They were a little small but we didnt spend much time in the room anyways. If I ever went back to Edinburgh then I would stay there again.

This hotel is amazingly close to the train station, so no cab fare is necessary; the hotel as excellent views of Edinburgh, the Royal Mile and the Edinburgh Castle and other iconic monuments. You're only 5 minutes from shops, pubs, clubs, and Calton Hill; only a block away from the Royal Mile and a 15 min. walk to the big castle. Hotel great for proximity to airlink bus, Waverly train station and city tours. Also walkable around town. Stayed here for a few days during the week in Sept. Nothing flash, very basic, but did the job. Considering I had a room facing Princes street it wasn't that noisy at all - must be because it's shut due to tram works. I'd recommend this for a short stay because it's convenient and central and very well priced.

Very friendly staff. The room was huge with a king size bed and enormous bathroom. Would definitely use this hotel again.

Loved the location of the hotel -- right on Princes Street in the heart of the action. A little difficult to get to the lobby since you have to either climb stairs or find the lift. Lobby area was a little tired but the room was very up-to-date and comfortable. On the floor where we stayed, we had to climb up and down about 12 stairs to get to our room […] which made luggage moval a little difficult. As a fringe performer from SF, this hotel was in a great location, clean, affordable and convenient for my stay.

I love the Royal British. It's not the most modern in decor but it does what it does with a style and dependability and competence that is largely forgotten in the impersonal modern hotels around it.

Stayed here for three nights at the end of July for a long weekend and the location could not have been better with great rates from booking through hotels.com. Didn't spend very much time in the room, although it was a lovely, if a little small, room. Only downside was that the room was incredibly warm and stuffy even with the windows open. The Royal British Hotel is a well located and affordable place to stay in Central Edinburgh. One cannot ask for a better location from a tourist's point of view. The hotel has been efficiently modernized and is quite comfortable for a couple who graduated from High School in 1961. We didn't use the food service because it didn't quite fit our plans, […] but it appeared to be very adequate. The view from the front of the Lounge at sunset was truly incredible on a clear day. had a great nights stay here - they have done it up since i was last there so it is even better value for money. Fantastic location as well and very friendly service.

I have stayed in the Royal British Hotel f with cold tor one night. My only concern is the hot water was extremely hot. I nearly missed my flight because I spent a considerable time trying to just the hot and cold water.

Arrived late, and left early. All I needed was a bed to crash for the night. Friendy reception. The single room was small but quiet, pleasant and very comfortable. Down sides were low water pressure in the shower in the morning, and I couldn't figure out how to connect to the Wifi. Would definitely stay there again, though.

Stayed here several times before. Very convenient for mainline station and central on Princess Street. Staff always pleasant, helpful and cheerful. Hotel in need of renovation and redecoration, but kept clean. Also very good value.

This was probably a top-class hotel 100 years ago, but no longer. Location: awesome. Otherwise... Eh. The bedspread was older than me, same with the carpet. Bathroom was ok, and I felt safe. Free wi-fi was nice. If you wat a great location and don't care about the room, then go for it. But it's not the Sheraton, that's for sure...

Although the hotel shows its age and is quite shabby in appearance (worn rugs in the hallways, drafty windows and functional rooms) the convenient location makes up for any shortfalls. Airlink buses which go directly to Edinburgh airport for 3 1/2 pounds one way, depart and arrive at Waverly Bridge every ten minutes. Great location, excellent staff, adequate and clean room, but horrible shower experience (difficult to get temperature right without running water for 10 minutes).

All in all a good hotel. My room was clean comfortable but small, nonetheless adequate. The Continental breakfast was poor, there was never any bread or rolls. Very friendly staff - I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Royal British for Hogmanay and it couldn't have been in a better location. There was a stage right next to the front door. While everyone else was using filthy porta potties, we were going upstairs to a nice bathroom and free drinks.
