very friendly staff thank you for the delicious cookies excellent pool and jacuzzi room spotless pillows and bed extremely comfortable everything at the ready i could hear the boys in the room next to mine, but fortunately they were not noisy after midnight. i would definitely look for a doubletree in the future. and thank god ALL NO SMOKING!!!!!

"Dog Friendly"
We have stayed in a few hotels in san diego that say they are dog friendly. This one really was. Great grass areas in front and in pool/spa areas for the dogs. We travel with 2 pugs and they seemed to be very comfortable there. Only negative about rooms is no fridge. Other than that great overall stay, think we will be back there again.

I booked this hotel at a great price to go to a wedding. A lot of other guests stayed at the Marriott across the street and paid alot more per night than we did. Our vacation was to venture to the Wild Animal Park and Legoland and I thought this was a perfect location for both venues. Close to stores and restaurants.

A beautiful hotel in a great area! The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! They have an awesome pool area with a gigantic pool and about an eight person hot tub. For the kiddies, they have a wading pool seperate from the big pool. At night they have outdoor fires in the patio.

Very nice and convenient stay while we moved our daughter into UCSD. It is only a few minutes from campus and while very close to Hwy 5, it is quiet and a good value. The pool area and outdoor hot tub area is beautiful and very nice after a day of lugging boxes up three flights of stairs. We had a fabulous time! We were in town for a wedding, so the hotel set up a shuttle for us that took us to the Rancho Valencia and picked us up after the wedding. The staff was super friendly! Please stay here!!!!
"not that close to downtown"
Hotel was great. However I reserved a room with 2 queen beds and received a handicap room with no tub and 1 small sink.. The guy at the desk said I have a room with a shower no tub but it has a view of the pool and is on the first floor. I said fine no tub that's ok. But when I got to the room it discovered it was for the handicap and had one small […] sink in the bathroom. The person I was with did not want to change rooms since we were so tired from the drive. I felt like the desk mislead us when we checked in with the view by the pool stuff. He did not mention that the beds were full size. I would not stay there again because of the location. It is fine if you are on business, but if you want to be near the beach it is not the place. It is located in a business park and because of the hills around the location the fog seems to settle in there making it cooler than the rest of the area. Leer más

"dog friendly?"
Did not appreciate the fact that dogs were allowed to be on the floor where we were. Twice in one night their was a dog fight in the hall, 11:30PM and 1:11AM. Not little dogs but Standard Poodles. Also how do you explain this to persons with allergys?

Spent one night down there for the races, and then to go to la jolla the next day. Perfect location for my trip. Resonable price. Easy check in and out. Loved that they offered to-and-from shuttle service for the Del Mar race track. Saved me cab money I was expecting to spend. I only marked down for the cleanliness of the hotel because the bar was kinda […] dirty, got sticky stuff on me from it, and there was an odd sulfur smell in the halls near elevators. but the room was perfectly clean! Our main objective was to enjoy a beautiful outdoors trip in La Jolla area and this was an affordable alternative to La Jolla proper. We were actually so close to Torrey Pines, where we took a small loop hike where we spotted the blue whales (three different areas) and I counted 13 blows in about 90 seconds!. When I checked in, they said that they ran out of King size hotel rooms... which disappointed me a little bit. They said they instead can get me a room with two queen beds with a pool view and I said okay. The room was really nice, the beds were HUGE (even as queens). It was just a little unfortunate that there was one entire bed in the hotel room that […] was being unused! The bathroom is great - lots of hot water and good water pressure! My only complaint is that there is a lot of noise, but I don't mind it that much. I usually can fall asleep to loud noise. There might be some kind of a club or bar that plays really loud music?
