Very little maintenance over many years has resulted in a hotel that with a very low quality. The interior of the room was old and the furniture was falling apart. The sliding windows on the terrase was not possible to close. This resulted in a very high noise level from the street. The staff had a negative attitude towards clients and I could observe that I was not the only guest that was not happy. I was planning to stay for 6 days but I moved to another hotel after 1 day because I did not want to distroy my stay in Rio. All in all Rio Othon Palace is the worst hotel I ever seen.

I arrived at 09:00am there were rooms available but since I arrived before the check-in (03:00pm) I was charged more than half of the cost of the room as "penalty". The room (#1918)had two small beds. Its rug was dirty, worn and poorly vacuumed, behind the night table there was some exposed electrical box that obviously had not been dusted or vacuum cleaned for months. The furniture was damaged with chips, scratchs and deterior evident. The bathroom sink did not drain well and after one minut of use was full, taking more than twice the time to become empty. Th bath tub was in deplorable condition,soiled and the sides and botton were so worn out that the metal was exposed. The Room Service was average fast but the food was below average. I would not consider this hotel for a stay again.

No need for taxi or car rental. Able to walk or take tour buses to historical sights.

Beautiful hotel entrance, rooms need upgrades. Good location, safe. Charges approx $80 for a "guest", even if you are staying alone.

I reserved what was claimed to be a deluxe room. However, when they showed me the room, it was quite shabby. They stated that you must want a "renovated" room. They showed me a renovated room which was wonderful but I had to pay an additional $80 a night. I elected to have the renovated room for the additional cost. The breakfast is great but you have to pay for the chaise lounge on the beach and also you have to pay to use the gym. I thought these items would be included. Even though I stayed in a renovated room, the building is old and had some technical problems during my stay. There was a power outage for a few hours at night and some plumbing problems, resulting in rusty water. Even with these problems, the hotel and location was great and convenient to shopping and clubs, even though I paid more for the room than I expected.

Great room and location for the money. Excellent, free, Continental breakfast. The hotel staff was helpful and there were English speaking staff members in the lobby/check-in area. Cabs were always available for travel to tourist attractions. Beach was not "jam packed" as I had expected. We walked much of the beach and shopping areas near the hotel during the day.

rooms need renovation and we had ants in our room. location was great and people were very nice.

Excellent location across from Copacabana Beach. Towel and umbrella provided by the hotel. Very clean with a roof-top pool and dining room. Great view.

Old hotel that was once plush. Location across from beach and activites with bus at door makes for a great location. good view from most rooms.

Hôtel de qualité supérieure, aucune surprise sur la qualité et le confort. Enregistrement très rapide, très bon service de repas en chambre. La (petite) piscine est au dernier étage, avec une vue superbe.

Mange nyoppussede rom men noe lytt til siderommene Fantasisk utsikt over beachen.

Chambre dble luxe au 28è et derner etage pour les chambres, avec vue sur mer sur une face latérale de l'immeuble donnant une meilleure perspective que directement face a la mer. Fortement recommandé! Petite piscine + bar sur le toit, pas attrayant du tout. Vieillot. Belle vue cela dit.
