I very much enjoyed my 6-night stay at the Inn. While it is a smaller boutique inn, it provides high quality service with a smile. Having extra perks - like complimentary breakfast, water bottles, newspaper, wireless, evening cheese and crackers, all served joyfully - sets this place apart from others. I look forward to my next stay there.

Great hotel! Very comfortable room and warm service! Defintely worth the money with its location and service.

I was in town to attend Macworld and wanted a small, clean, comfortable and quiet hotel/inn to recuperate away from the hustle and noise of the exhibition. The manager's evening reception and the continental breakfast were terrific.

The hotel staff was extremely friendly, the hotel was clean and comfortable.

The Inn at Union Square is older and small however the staff is over the top when it comes to service. The eating area on each floor is small but adequate and they serve "Petes" coffee and have a nice continental breakfast. We were there for a family reuinion to celebrate Christmas with our older kids and had a wonderful time. Everyone liked the hotel […] and said they would go back. Even with you called the hotel they were extremely gracious on the phone and very helpful. We had stayed at the Handlary two months before and the staff, including the manager, were very rude and it was a terrible experience. Inn at Union Square was a 5 star experience. Our room was quiet. No view out windows so if that is your thing then this would not work for you. Not sure if any of the rooms have views but this is not unusual for SF. Leer más

The evening wine tastings are a great time to get to know the other guests. One night we went out to dinner as a group. fun times

The Inn at Union Square is a hidden gem. I've probably walked by it about 25 times and never noticed it before. But it's worth finding it. It's right off of Union Square (on Post St. and Powell, basically), yet it's a peaceful oasis. The rooms are quiet (with perhaps the exception of the -01 rooms on each floor, which overlook Post) because they face […] onto a gap between buildings. That means there isn't a great view, but personally, I'd rather have a quiet room just steps from the city center. Breakfast is included, as is wireless internet access. I have to give a shout out to the incredible staff. They are all incredibly nice and helpful--and it seems like they are truly that way, not just faking it. Ann checked me in, and she set a great tone for the rest of my stay. I would recommend staying on floors 4 or 6 if you want it really quiet, because breakfast and wine are served on floors 3 and 5. Loved this hotel even having come from a penthouse room at the Bellagio the evening before. Our room was a cosy but an extremely comfortable chocolate box with a pristine bathroom. The Inn has unbeatable proximity to Union Square without being set amidst all of the hustle right on the Square. We hopped a day tour to Yosemite and were picked up from […] the Westin directly across the road and dropped off at our hotel doorstep that evening so the smaller size of the hotel had no bearing on our ability to access these activities. You are offered the most impressive complimentary wine and cheese platter every evening and free breakfast each morning with tea and coffee and water made available through the day at no cost. The staff are very warm and helpful and most importantly they are knowledgable. The Inn is right next door to Morton's Steak House and a two minute stroll up the street leads you to even more dining options catering to every budget. There's also a very handy laundromat on the Inn side of the street just five minutes up the street. A godsend if you've been away for a while. The cable cars and metro links are right at the bottom of Powell street just five minutes walk away. Once you walk out the door you can't help but hit a myriad of things to see and do, including the shopping with Macys across the square and great stores all along Powell and Post streets. Loved it! Free wifi, free breakfast, free newspaper, free wine/cheese, free shoe shine, free cookies and fresh fruit. Perfect location. Nice manager and staff. Only the bed a little soft. I'll be back.

The hotel room is small but it's close to Bart (5 blocks away), it has a safe inside the room, it had a good wi-fi connection in the room, it does have a breakfast and it's real close to the mall. We stayed at this hotel in October, and were generally very satisfied. All the amenities were first-rate and the location is excellent, but several basic things need attention. The mattress on the bed was not comfortable and the ceiling fan was not effective in providing ventilation. There is no air conditioning, which usually is not necessary, but […] we were there during a week that was quite warm. There was not sufficient ice available on the two occasions when we wanted some. The parking garage the hotel uses was unable to provide our car in a timely manner twice, even though we had called ahead to request it. Leer más

The hotel was a disappointment. The bed was so bad that if felt like lying on a hill. Could not sleep for the three nights that we were there. Our room overlooked the back of other buildings and the aircon ducts outside were so loud that we could not keep the window open. I was greeted in a nice friendly manner when I got to the hotel and was immediately upgraded to a king size bed. My room was at the rear end of the hotel so very quiet and peaceful. There was plenty of room and I had a small living area between the bed and bathroom. Facilities were fantastic. Great internet service and I had the same level of quality […] that my friends who were staying in more expensive hotels had. Best location in San Francisco, yet with a lot of privacy and intimacy. Stuff are very efficient and friendly - we accepted good advices.

Everyone at the hotel went out of their way to be helpful--I have no complaints concerning service whatsoever. Front desk staff Ann and Omar were very helpful. The location is great for visiting San Francisco, just be aware the the nearby Tenderloin is a bit sketchy at night. We were in the Tenderloin at night (for some Pakistani food) but with a big […] group and felt safe enough. It's much cheaper to park at one of the nearby parking garages than to valet. We paid $18 for overnight parking a couple of blocks away from the hotel on a weekday whereas the hotel rate would have been $32 that particular evening. My only complaint is concerning room comfort: the bed was altogether too soft, almost like sinking into a waterbed. Leer más

Great hotel. Great staff. Great location. Will absolutely stay there again

We stayed in this hotel on the final leg of our honeymoon. This hotel is a great location for SF. Staff at hotel were the best and most helpful we experienced on our whole trip. We stayed in junior suite and had loads of space, would recommend anyone to stay here - was great value for money compared to other hotels.

Great place to stay, convenient location in the centre of San Francisco, very friendly, capable & helpful management & staff. Continental breakfasts & happy hour drinks are an added bonus allowing you to meet other travellers & exchange ideas. Would recommend & if I return to San Francisco I would be more than happy to stay at this hotel.

We have stayed here 4 times in fifteen years and will continue to go back there. The Inn Keeper (Wayne) is a great guy who likes to mingle with the guests over cheese and wine, which is provided gratis every evening by the hotel - how very civilised! It sits right in the heart of the city making it easy to get around. Highly recommended.

I thought the hotel was in a perfect location for all amenities. I had a top floor room on the backside which faced another building and without air conditioning the room was quite hot at times. The hotel is located right in the prime shopping district of SF. Right next to Union Square and only a short walk to Chinatown. Excellent location for the price. Service was also excellent. Will definitely stay there again.

The hotel's location is <1 block from Union Square's shopping and restaurants. A cable car stop is also <1 block away. Rooms are very clean and spacious (considering you're in the middle of a large city). The rooms do not offer views, but are extremely quiet. A continental breakfast is offered on floors 3 & 5 each morning and includes: coffee, tea, […] homemade granola, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, and assorted pastries/muffins. Anne, the daytime concierge, is EXTREMELY helpful and accommodating. My husband and I were there for a honeymoon get-away and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay! Leer más

Everything I look for in a small, historic boutique hotel...and more! Outstanding service...Ann, Omar and everyone we came in contact with really seemed to love taking care of guests. The front of the hotel is so small I walked right past it the first time I visited. However, inside the staff was exceptional and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. I will be using the Inn at Union Square on return visits to San Francisco.

conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco's upscale shopping district is a lovely boutique hotel. In traveling around the world, I often stay at 5-star chain hotels but am occasionally venturous and find a boutique hotel. Terrific staff, reasonable rooms and wonderful location.

Had a great stay at the Inn at Union Square. The location was incredible...right at Union square, and could easily hop on to the trolley, since the stop was a few steps away from the hotel. The room was clean and cute. We really appreciated the breakfast, wine & cheese, and cookies at night.

place is small but nice. breakfast was good and i was a big fan of the afternoon wine tasting.

this little Inn had a wonderful, friendly, helpful staff. Amenities included robes, hair dryers, free internet, wine/cheese/fruit in the evening, continental breakfast We had a very enjoyable stay in a great location!

The hotel is centrally located and is clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are relatively small but comfortable with the exception of the showers which are really, really small. One weird thing about the hotel is the valet parking service - you have to park your car on the street, check in, and then call the valet service […] to come retrieve the car. This could be a major pain if there is no street parking and a lot of traffic, as there was when we arrived. Nice complimentary breakfast. My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Union Square after reading the online reviews and because of the great location. We were delighted with the hotel. Great location very close to great shopping. Easy to get to from airport using the BART and close to public transport. Good continental breakfast included and also included drinks/biscuits/cheese in the evening + yummy choc chip cookies and bottled water at night. The highlight had to be the fantastic very helpful staff. Anne, in particular was fantastic. She was there at check in and check out and every morning. She went the extra mile to provide us with information and make our stay in San Fran a very enjoyable one. She had great local knowledge and was friendly and helpful. Close to public transportation, restaurants, and shopping. For those attending a conference at the Mascone Center, it's about a 10-15 minute walk door to door. Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast, wine hour, cookies, plus tea and coffee were all very nice. Only wish there had been some shelves or storage for personnal items in the bathroom. close to transportation. very clean

Chocolate cookies and bottled water at 9pm, real run down service, nice wine and cheese with other snacks with Cokes and water at 5:30, shoe shine service.... all included, free! Many higher priced chains don't give that kind of extras. The rooms are small but the beds are great. Good people that seem to like thier job. A true find.
