"Excelente hotel... precio accesible"
"mafia botones, aparca enfrente."

"Great Hotel - Neighborhood Not As Nice"
The hotel itself was really nice. Not as close to the Bart as I would have liked and the neighborhood was not as nice as expected given its proximity to Nobb Hill and Union Square.
"Great value in San Fran"
Great value, super friendly staff. Only bad thing is walls thin and get woken up my garbage trucks at night. Book this place now
"Hotel Carlton San Fransisco - dodgy surrounding"
We stayed for 3 nights in January and had never been to San Fran before. On arrival we were unsure as to whether this was a classy hotel fallen on bad times or a poor hotel trying to improve itself. We never really got the answer. The staff were pleasant and helpful, answering any question we had. In fact they handed us a map and wrote where the shopping […] area and various ethnic area's were (e.g Chinatown) and this included one area they crossed out saying we should avoid it. Unfortunately, this area surrounds the hotel! We left the hotel at 7.30am on Sunday to find a diner only a mile away and after walking for 5 minutes quickly realised we should have caught a cab - and I've lived in some rough area's. It is OK when you leave the hotel and head towards Union Square, although I wouldn't do that on my own - catch a cab. That being said the hotel is well situated to get everywhere quickly. We walked to the man shopping area in Union Square in 10 minutes and from there we could get the tram to Fishermans wharf that only took 10 minutes. The hotel is clearly old and needs renovation but it appears all they have done is to keep painting over the walls etc to give the impression it is new. We were on the first floor (although in America this is the second floor) and that means you can hear noise from the restaurant downstairs until 10-1030. And you can hear the cars outside as well when they pass. However, the room was clean and tidy, the bed very comfortable and we slept peacefully as that part of downtown was very quiet over the weekend. As I've said the decor is faded but the room gets the job done. Other than the one dodgy walk, no problems - oh apart from the hotel's car. It's advertised at reception for an airport run, we booked it for a 9am pick up and the driver eventually turned up at 9.20am - not good when you've got a plane to catch! By then we asked the staff to call a cab and as it turns out, the cab was cheaper. We agreed that although staying there didn't s Leer más
"great spot"
Nice place period. Go for the public parking lot across the street to save a few bucks.
"not recommended because of management indifference"
A friend and I enjoyed an overnight stay. However, we had two problems with service at the front desk, one at check-in and another at check-out. I wrote to the manager afterwards, describing the problems, but never got a reply.
I am glad you and your friend enjoyed your stay at Hotel Carlton. I am sorry however that you encountered a problem with the service from the front desk. We would appreciate the ability to discuss this with you in more detail so we can work to improve our service for future guests. We hope you visit us again at Hotel Carlton the next time your travels bring you to San Francisco.

"Hotel Carlton - I liked it"
The hotel is on a good street, above the Tenderloin. It is close enough to everything if you don't mind a short walk. My room was comfortable, with the downsides being that the bathroom door did not open all of the way (it actually hit the sink) and there is a bit of street noise even on the 9th Floor. The staff seems friendly enough, although when […] I asked to reserve a taxi to the airport they pushed a limousine service which was more money than a taxi. Leer más
"Hotel Staff Service was Exceptional!"
Every single person that works at the Carlton from the front desk to the cleaning personell to the wine pourer at the free tasting went above and beyond to be genuinely friendly and accommodating to every request. It is a warm, comfortable charming hotel with the only downside being the sirens that passed by the hotel all night long - might be near […] a fire station or police station? Hard to sleep because of that, but everything else was perfect! Leer más
"Great location; funky for business"
Great location and good price. Was there on busines and it's a bit funky for business--loud music, etc. Has a folk art theme, which is interesting. Would enjoy it more for pleasure but kept business costs low because I could walk everywhere. Note: no room service. Would have liked to order breakfast, but there was a coffee maker in the room and I had […] bars with me so I survived. Bed was comfy--and that goes a long way! Leer más

"New years eve stay"
Stayed here for new years eve and enjoyed my time. The only issue I had was the ran out of washcloths.
"Nice, casual hotel in interesting neighborhood"
If you're looking for a nice place to stay in an interesting neighborhood, Hotel Carlton is a safe bet. There are a bunch of good Thai, Indian and Middle Eastern restaurants and "hole in the wall" kinds of places right nearby. There are also a number of fun, laid-back bars. If you do a little research on the neighborhood where the hotel is (the "Tendernob"), […] you'll find that it's a little weird (or at least not what I'm used to living in Brooklyn/NYC). I probably would have felt a little uncomfortable wandering around there by myself at night, but if you aren't traveling alone its fine. A downside is that the hotel walls are thin so you can hear anyone talking in the hallway or the next room. But that's not the end of the world. The other downside is that the restaurant in the lobby is only open for lunch and dinner so don't count on eating there if you wake up late. The hotel does a wine reception in the lobby every evening, which is nice. Leer más

"Great stay in a FANTASTIC city!"
The staff were very friendly and helpful, they really made us feel welcome. The hotel is in a convenient location as right next to Polk street - great for bars and restaurants. The rooms were a decent size with cable, they were also clean and tidy. The only negative thing was there's a little noise at night. The hotel is only a few blocks from the Tenderloin, […] a pretty rough area, so there tended to be fire engines and sirens going off a few times during the night. Not a massive problem though. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again, it was good value for money! Leer más

"Hotel Carlton-Union Square San francisco"
The expirence of this hotel should not be missed The staff could not do anymore to help. The nightly gathering for a glass of local wine with background music was outstanding and a great meeting place
I enjoy my stay at Hotel Carlton, clean room, very nice staff and walking distance from Union Square. At night it was a little noisy but I was so tired of the walking that I still slept good. The sad part was that it was kind of close to the Tenderloin area (ugly area) so just review your map for an alternate route before you dicide to go on a walk […] . Leer más
"Hotel was great, parking was awful"
I stayed here with my 9-year old niece on her first trip to San Francisco. I selected this hotel due to its' close proximity to Union Square, Chinatown and ease of access to Fisherman's Wharf - which is true. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous and our room was comfortable and clean. My only complaint was the parking situation. I was told when […] I checked in to please call the Front Desk 20 minutes before I needed my vehicle since they were stored off site. I did just that, but waited 40 minutes for my car on Sunday night, and 90 minutes on Monday morning. Overall, I would probably stay here again IF I was relying solely on public transportation. "Nice Old SF Hotel"
The staff couldn't be more helpful. Very nice greeting - wine reception. I went there for a party I was going to nearby, but it's very close to transportation anywhere in SF. The hotel is very clean, very safe. Again, the nicest staff you can ask for. It's not your Mark Hopkins or Fairmont, but for the price, it's a gem.

The could not have been more helpful, also I would recomend the restuarant

"Birthday dinner"
We stayed there because we were having a fancy dinner in the city. The front desk people were extremely friendly and kind
"Great location with little added perks!"
We were visiting a friend in the area and this place was a perfect location to be close to her as well as things to do, bus lines, restaurants/bars, etc. The nightly rate was very fair. I like boutique hotels and this one did not disappoint. I really appreciated the small little perks that the hotel offered including the nightly wine reception with […] live music (Snazz!), and also a cold water dispenser in the hall along with water pitchers in the rooms. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Plus we really loved the decorations and interior design - it was hip but still warm and inviting! We had the most minor of problems when shower water leaked through the curtain and mildly flooded the bathroom. We made a call and the building engineer was up in a jiffy, corrected the problem and cleaned up the floor. But note - their liners are not water proof or resistant - so if the outer shower curtain comes into contact with the liner (which is very likely to happen) water will drip from the curtain onto the floor and make quite a mess. Be aware of this and either shower very carefully or put both liner and curtain in the tub so they drain in there and NOT on the tile floor. But even with this super minor little problem - we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. Oh yes, and one more little perk (in my book anyway) was that the windows in the room actually open! It was so nice to get fresh air in our room during the day and get to hear the sounds of the city. "exactly what I needed"
The Hotel Carlton was exactly what I expected: a great price, a convenient location (8 blocks from downtown)and cozy but clean rooms. I had one maintenance issue when my radiator was too hot, but the hotel sent someone to fix it within 10 mins, and this was on Thanksgiving Day itself. I really appreciated the complimentary wine each evening in the lobby. […] As a solo traveler it was a great opportunity to relax and be sociable with other hotel guests Leer más
"Hotel in SFO - Japantown"
For my work, it was closer to location and we got nice Indian restaurants so we liked the location. Staffs were really nice. The bummer was the parking fee - $30 a day. So be careful about that to include in your budget for hotel.
"Kind staff and great location"
My friend and I stayed at Carlton for four days. The staff was kind and helpful and the location was great. I would definately consider staying here again next time I visit SF.
"will comeback and stay again"
walking distance to union square, and china town, very friendly staff and fun, we joke around and anything I need they just on it, towels and car... it was a good time, and very convenience location and for the price it's good
"Hotel Carlton - Joie de Vivre"
Very friendly staff
"Walking distance to Union Square, convenient"
Overall experience is satisfactory. Room is acceptable clean, however, the room is small. Wall is thin and you can hear noises from your neighbours. Hotel is accessible to eateries and Union Square which is a plus point.
"No A.c."
Just a reminder there is NO A.C. though not needed in winter i think on summer it could be really HOT !!
