Herald House Hotel

It was one of those rooms where you don't know how many generations the mattresses have witnessed. The walls were not soundproof and it was hard to fall asleep with all the noise coming from all the other rooms. The breakfast was very plain and always the same, so for a 3-night stay it quickly became boring. The hotel charged a whopping 15 pounds […] a day for Internet connection, that was unstable and slow. Still, the rooms were made every morning and were clean when we came back. The location of the hotel was good and we didn't have to take the bus to visit the town. Lovely staff, very good breakfast, clean room.

Great customer service and very freindly staff. We stayed there whilst I completed the Edinburgh Marathon, it was perfectly situated about 1.5 miles away so walkable and a taxi back was too expensive. Great for local amenities and restaurants. Very good for price.

We found the Herald House clean, comfortable and friendly. Buffet-style breakfast had all the usual requirements and there wasn't a spot of grease on the "Full Scottish". Less than a 10 minute walk to Princes Street so handy for all the central tourist spots with a selection of bars and restaurants close by.

We felt safe and secure the whole time we stayed at this beautiful hotel. We had a wonderful breakfast every morning and then could go on our way and see the sights. By the time we had a spent another week there,we felt like family. I would definitely recommend this beautful place to anyone travelling to Edinburgh, not only for their hospitality and […] helpfulness and friendly staff, but also because of their location. We could walk to the Royal Mile or Princes Street in 15 minutes, and less than 10 minutes to walk to the Haymarket bus station. A lovely little budget hotel thats about a 10 minute walk to Princess St. You can also catch the number 34 bus just around the corner. Rooms are very clean and well equipped. There is also a very hearty breakfast included in the price, which is a great start to the day. If arriving by train, it is best to get off the stop before at Haymarket. I think the title speaks for it self. If you get a good price and you´re just gonna sleep here then do it. If you want to spend some time in your room and look forward to a good breakfast, then get an other hotel.

This hotel is in a poor neighborhood, not near any of the tourist locations we wished to visit. I didn't feel particularly safe and the room wasn't very nice. The bathroom was very small and I had difficulty operating the shower. It was not worth the money.

This hotel was really affordable, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The bed was really comfortable and the hotel is within walking distance of the city centre. I would definitely stay here again!

Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful, hotel only a 20 minute walk from City Centre. Very large room, bathroom very small but functional, both rooms were cleaned to a high standard. I booked this hotel at the last minute because our other accomodation fell through. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was pretty good. The hotel itself is quite old - the decor was very dated and both of our mattresses were lumpy. However, the room and ensuite were very clean and we were happy with the service. the hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. had a really bad bed the first night but i was moved to a much better room the following nights without any hassel. you can't beat the location of this hotel for this price. would definately stay again.

Since we were staying for just 1 night, we went for a 'budget deal'. The price was the only budget thing about this place. The room was spacious, the beds were really comfortable, and good quality bed linen. The bathroom was small, but adquate and clean. Although continental breakfast was advertised, there was a full English if you required - self […] service. The reception staff were really helpful, and we were able to leave our bags when we went sightseeing after checking out. Location, not too far from the Castle, a couple of restaurants closeby and bus service just outside. A nice friendly cosy hotel which is also great value for money. it's also in a great location-only 10mins from Prince's st. Rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable and the breakfast included was excellent.

This hotel had a basic breakfast that was included with the stay. The bus stop was right around the corner and so was a late night food spot. The employee's were very nice and helpful. Basicaly for the price the place was excellent.

This hotel was really nice, the staff were very cheery - even those who were up for the breakfast. We're used to staying in Travelodges so the breakfast added into the price was exciting - and with this the breakfast was good. I will definatley be staying here again!!

Ett prisvärt alternativ med närhet till det mesta. En familjär stämning men med något för fasta sängar.

Enkelt, men prisvärt hotell med gångavstånd till allt!

Net hotel, goed gesitueerd, vriendelijk en buhulpzaam personeel, centrum op loopafstand en goede eetgelegenheden in de buurt . verbinding met vliegveld om de hoek ( station Haymarket). zou er zo nog een keer naartoe gaan.

Mysigt litet hotel som ligger nära till det mesta. Mycket trevlig personal och absolut värt sitt pris. Rekommenderas varmt !

Clean, good location, ok breakfeast - In atoher words: Good value for money.

Et rigtigt godt hotel, med rigtigt god service samt rigtigt god beliggendehed i forhold til alt. Dog kan man godt se at det er et ældre hotel, men udover dette er der ikke noget og sætte en finger på. Dette er et hotel jeg helt klart vil anbefal til andre.

Hotel is little old and untidy. Breakfast was quite bad also, at least by continental standards (basic English breakfast :). Quite good location near airport bus route and 10 minute walk from old town. TV was old and small.

An overpriced hotel. The personal is nice and helpful, but the hotel has very tiny corridors, and small rooms. The bed we had was definitely out of age. The price is too high for the service.

Es hat meine Erwartungen übertroffen. Ich hatte ein wenig ein mulmiges Gefühl in ein 2Sterne Hotel zu reisen, aber dafür war es sicherlich sehr gut. Betten sind bequem, Lage des Hotels ist super, Personal sehr freundlich, Frühstück kann man essen... nur die Baustelle, die jeden Schlaf ab 7:30Uhr unmöglich macht hat gestört, aber da kann das Hotel ja […] nix für... Personalet er venlige og hotellet ligger i perfekt gåafstand til alting. Man skal ikke forvente luksuriøse omgivelser, men udemærket hotel til prisen.
