This hotel is great. Location is convenient and the rooms are big and comfortable, which is rather peculiar for San Francisco. Don't let the small lobby fool you, this place is great. Would stay there again.

I'm not one who takes time to write reviews but for DIVA I will. From the moment we walked in the staff was welcoming and friendly. They weren't as knowledgeable about restaurants and hot spots as I would have like but other than that they were great. The rooms were clean, a little small but this is SF right!? PROs: the location is great. its like 2 or 3 city blocks to union square. it definitely has 'personality' that stood out to me from other hotels around the same price range. Complimentary sake for happy hour, they have both warm and cold. Next door is starbucks, down the block is CVS pharmacy and jack and the box for any 'emergencies' they validate […] parking if you have any friends that want to come visit CONs: Walls are thin. They pick up the garbage at like 3 or 4 in the morning and it can get loud. If you can, request a room on the opposite side of the hotel. The bedding and pillows are uncomfortable. Bring your own pillow. Pay for parking, and depending on when you want it, the wait can be really long. So, it's best to call ahead while you're getting ready. If it's a weekend, and during the morning/day I suggest you call at least 30 minutes ahead. Remember, they tax the parking so it's like five bucks more than what they state. small bathroom, no view at all but room was large & comfortable elevator broke down right at happy hour which made me unhappy ha! all & all we enjoyed our stay & would return again

Stayed in the hotel for one night when my friend had to go away for the weekend. Was great to stay in town, right by Union Square and all the shopping. I didn't feel overly safe in the area at night though, but during the day it was fine. Safe were very friendly and helpful and stored my bags all day after check out. Love this hotel...Highly recommended. Friendly staff and small-town feel.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was quiet and cozy and very clean. The concierge was friendly and available for all our questions and requests. Once cautionary comment: they seem to have the world's smallest toilets ;)

We were upgraded to the best room- had a fireplace, separate living room and kitchenette, delightful artsy decor, friendly, helpful staff, close to restaurants and shopping, and cable cars

I loved the place. Room lovely, comfy bed, grey on walls restful, small bath , but just me anyway. Loved being close to everything. wish starbucks did room service, but appreciated they were there.. appreciated coffee maker and the refridge. need betterlighting, The reading laps by the bed were great. The staff was very friendly. One of the concierges, a man, lived much of his life in San Francisco and was knowledgeable about music venues and nearby restaurants. It is a great location, just one block from Union Square. The parking is awful and costs for hotel to do so, but that is the same for all of the hotels in the area. Location is great if you are looking to be close to union square. The two big drawbacks are the rooms are TINY and the walls are paper thin. It is difficult for two people to get around the room without bumping into each other and you can hear your neighbor's conversation even when speaking at a normal volume.

While I do have to say that I did love the location of this place, the standard room that I received from them after booking on hotels.com was not up to par with what I expected. The room was uncomfortably cold and the Window AC/Heater, only seemed to blow cold air. The room was on the 2nd floor and the city noises pierced threw the walls of the building. […] My favorite thing was the throw on the end of the bed, which was extremely soft . All in all, I would defiantly pick another hotel, or at the minimum make sure that you get a bigger room, on a higher up floor. I had a hard time sleeping without being woke by the city. Leer más

Good price and great location. The room was small but perfectly fine. Only complaint was the TV didn't work well. Not many channels and grainy picture. Very comfortable beds and staff was great.

The room was small but the design was very sexy. Wonderful king sized bed and headboard. Other nice touches. The bathroom is small too worked for us because they had a separate dressing area. The free sake after 4 was a nice plus. Next door to a Starbucks and a great mexican bar. Fun and eclectic. Smaller rooms.

Just around the corner from the upscale neighbor hood ...just around the corner from the hood minus the neighbor..The room looked shiek ...but it was freezing and the 2ft long radiator heater didn't cut it.. Valet was nearly half of the the hotel rate but they did have a complimentary MAC computer in the room.

The pictures do not give you teh entire story. Reserved a mini suite, got upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. The rooms were sooooo small you could not even set the suitcase anywhere. Bathroom very old. Sicks sooooo small you could not even wash your hands without spilliing water all over. Definitely pay a bit more a go to a nicer hotel.

We stayed in the family suite and it was just great for our family. Comfortable and clean. Ideal location for vacation in San Francisco. Would stay there again and recommend to friends. Staff was very friendly and kind.

Last year for NYE we stayed at Hotel Nikko. We enjoyed our stay and decided to come back this year, however, because we made our arrangements at the last minute hotel prices were sky high. So, we decided to try Hotel Diva because it was inexpensive, near union square, and looked nice in the pictures online. Staff was very friendly, and the bed was super […] comfortable, but the rooms were small, had absolutely NO view (our window had frosted glass on it to hide the fire escape and brick wall), the block that it's on is kind of dicey, and ... well it felt like a renovated brothel. Really fun hotel in a great location...Highly recomended

The price was amazing compated to other hotels for the day before new years. I had my dog with me and he was welcome which was a plus for me being that he is a pitbull and very rarely gets the chance to stay in nicer hotels (kimptons allow him as well). Great location! But very noisy if you want to sleep late. Service is excellent! Would stay again! Room with 2 double beds is a bit small for 4 persons...but would stay again with less persons in room!

I like this hotel. It was clean, the staff is friendly however be sure to call for your car well in advance if valet parked.. I waited 45 minutes for my car in the lobby with 2 kids not a great way to end my stay. You can't beat the location. All in all great hotel I would stay again

The hotel room is slanted if you notice properly. To clarify, just roll a bottle on the table top and you will notice the difference.Valet is expensive and waited for too long(45 mins) for the valet to bring the car.

Good location if you want to be near Union Square and the shopping. Also just across the street from the theaters. We love the decorations of the rooms. White and black with lots of Stainless steel.

This hotel was a last minute getaway for my birthday weekend. The place is adorable, very hip and chic, and in a fabulous location. The rooms are unique, clean and comfortable. Free wifi was a nice touch and parking was less than overnight at some of the big name hotels. HOWEVER, despite being told it was a 20 minute wait for our car from the valet, […] it took TWO HOURS on Sunday to get our car! We asked if we could just go get it ourselves, and we were informed that it was parked 15 blocks away, sheesh! Oh well, we went shopping and called every now and then to see if it was back. Once it was there, we headed to the hotel, asked for a valet refund which they provided, and were on our way. Now, had we had a flight to catch, or somewhere to be, it could have been a different experience all together. Also, there was no bell person on Sunday, and some snobbish looking couple with their $1,000 stroller seemed very perturbed by this...so if you expect to be waited on hand and foot, go elsewhere. Hotel Diva is conveniently close to Union Square and the Westfield mall. The staff was very helpful the rooms was very clean and the beds were very comfortable The bath room was very small but understandable due to the location we arrived very early and the front desk was very accommodating giving us a room. The only Issue that would frustrate anyone […] would be if you were driving to the hotel. There is no parking at the hotel so a valet service handles that, you can wait from twenty minutes to fourth five minutes to get your car and it is very expensive thirty five dollars a day. I would recommend parking at a nearby parking structure. Overall I would recommend the Diva I would probably use more public transportation as San Francisco has very good service. Leer más

Whatever you do, DO NOT valet you car here!!! I was told that picking your car up out of valet could take up to 20 minutes. Over an hour later, our car still had not arrived and all management could tell us was that their parking services were 'backed up.' No offer for a discount, no comp'd parking, NOTHING. I will not be going back.

I just finished my first stay at the Hotel Diva in San Francisco. It is within a block of Union Square, within walking distance of loads of great restaurants and centrally located for business. The staff of the hotel are GREAT. They are curteous, knowledgable about the area and made me feel welcome starting on day one. They remembered my name by day […] 2 and I felt welcome and appreciated. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are tiny. They are in very good condition and well decorated. The lack of any counter space on the pedestal sink is very inconvenient and the small shelf above the toilet does not give much area to put toiletries. The beds are very comfortable. If you are a light sleeper don't stay in the rooms facing the street as there is quite a bit of street noise. The front desk has complimentary ear plugs though and they did offer to move me to a room away from the street as soon as I mentioned the noise. There is a Starbucks (a real one) on one side attached through the lobby and a GREAT Interior Style Mexican restaurant on the other. Food is VERY good and so are the margaritas. I will definitely stay again as the staff and proximity to everything make up for the small rooms and tiny bathroom. Consider booking one of the bigger rooms if this is a big concern for you. The Hotel is very cool the front desk was super nice, they seemed short staffed however, but did offer us Sake :) We got to the room and the phone didnt work and found out later it never got fixed and our TV didnt work either. In their defense it was an issue that happened with more than our room. The General Manager made it all better by comping our […] room. Valet parking available for $40 + a little more for large vehicles. It was so convenient to pull up and know we didn't have to stress about finding parking in the city. We also got there before check in time and I was expecting to just leave the bags with the bellhop. Amazingly they had our room ready and were were able to check in early. Here's the thing. I think this place is perfect for the weekend traveler just in to see the sights. But if you're a business traveler, the place has its shortcomings. The desk chair was one of the most uncomfortable desk chairs I've ever sat in. There was insufficient storage space and way too few hangers in the closet. The vanity bathroom sink was […] deep but there was no shelving to store toiletries. The lighting over the sink was awful, I had to re-direct lighting from other parts of the room to feel like I wasn't shaving in the dark. Starbuck's right next door very convenient. A car service to the airport for the price of a cab, very nice. The shower was made for a very short person. I'm below average height and had to duck my head down to shampoo and rinse. The cable was basic at best. Again, better options in the immediate area. The concierge said the hotel was in transition to a new cable provider, so this might have been temporary blip. If you're just using the room as a bed, this place is great. If you're looking to spend any time in the room, there are more spacious, more functional options in the immediate area. Leer más

We always stay here when doing a city weekend. The hotel is comfortable, clean and close to Union Square. The only negative is that it is not in a great neighborhood...lots of homeless people begging in the street. We felt a little unsafe at night.

The hotel was in a convenient location, a few blocks from Union Square. The beds were very comfortable and the noise outside wasn't all too bad even though we were on the 4th floor. However, the noise in the hallway at 3:00 a.m. in the morning on the second night of our stay was a bit loud. I guess we may have gotten the party floor and since it was […] the day after Black Friday, a weekend, people are ready for a night out on the town. The hotel staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We didn't have the room cleaned since our shopping bags and gifts were spread out across the room but the maid service caught us in the hallway and politely asked us if we wanted the room cleaned now that we were leaving to do more shopping. We declined but I thought they were very observant. The only complaint I had was the water in the tub wouldn't shut off completely so it dripped all night long but nothing a few ear plugs couldn't fix. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends and family who are coming to San Francisco. Although short, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Leer más

Great location. Just a short walk to Union Square!

Great location, free wi-fi, Starbucks downstairs, fun atmosphere and decor and comfy bed - can't go wrong!

The hotel was right by Union square which provided a great experience. The room was nice and spacious, although the bathroom was a little on the small side. There was also complementary sake and tea in the lobby which was a great surprise. Overall it was a great hotel and I recommend staying there.

Upon arrival, request to see other multiple rooms if available. I booked with hotels.com specifically for a KING room and they tried sticking my GF and I in a queen room. Queen rooms are tiny! petite beyond belief.

I rated the "condition and maintenance" as a 3 because there was some painting going on and one of the elevators door wasn't working super well. Bathroom was super clean, staff was great, the free WiFi was reliable. Tons of rental car locations close-by and Powell BART station is a short walk from there.

Hotel Diva worked out well for us. It is well located about a block or two off of Union Square. It's close to BART and cable cars if you don't like to walk, but we walked to Chinatown, the Ferry Building, unbelievable restaurants, and shopping. The concierge, Rodney, was extremely helpful. Everything was fine except...there were some long black hairs in a couple of the towels...yuck! Otherwise, very cute modern hotel, oh and Starbucks next store is a plus...but they're very very SLOW.
