Fantastic hotel. Great location within walking distance of everything yet very quiet. Superior rooms have great balcony views of the city. Would recommend this hotel100%. Quick easy check-in and check-out. Very efficient staff. Room service very reasonable price too.

The fact that this is a four star hotel is a joke. The rooms were worn down and dirty. More like a two star hotel if you ask me. I've stayed at two star hotels before and also paid the price. This hotel did not offer good value for the money (it was New Years Eve, and we paid over 100 euro per night - and don't forget about the additional tax that all […] hotels in Amsterdam charge). The toilet reaked of urine, so much that we had to ask them to do something about it. The mini bar fridge had some brown dirt in it (mold?) and was completely empty. When we asked them why it was empty, they said that they had to empty the minibar because there had been so much theft lately. The hotel is located centrally, but the area in itself is not that cozy or charming. There are nicer areas in Amsterdam to stay - that are still central. The hotel staff were quite unattentive and not very friendly; always doing something else at the same time that they were "helping" us. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I've stayed in Amsterdam before, and there are better places to stay. Leer más

Used to be the Jolly hotel. Great bargain hotel, good service and great location. "Free" Wifi in lobby sucks, the low speed makes it useless and people wonder in from the street to use it.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking primarily for a well-located base for discovering the beautiful city of Amsterdam (walking distance to most of the attractions, small supermarket, restaurants etc. nearby ...). The room - though not five star luxury - was clean, large and very comfy. The hotel staff was very, very nice, accommodating our […] special requests for additional blankets and luggage storage (great system for this by the way - unlike in many hotels you can't just grab any bag, so we were glad to know our luggage was safe until we had to leave in the evening). The only thing we weren't too happy with were the high parking charges of 40 Euro per day (at the time we asked, but that may obviously change ... plus parking in Amsterdam is very expensive overall, so we shouldn't have been all that surprised). But the park & ride system in Amsterdam is really great, so we simply checked in and then parked the car at the Olympic Stadium for the duration of our stay. good location as only a short walk to most tourist areas,the hotel was very clean and well presented in the lobby and front desk but was expecting more from the room as being a 4 star hotel but was clean and comfortable,and was only a standard room anyway. but after being out in amsterdam on new yrs eve i wasnt that bothered anyway.

Very nice and friendly service. Very helpful. Very good hotel location, in heart of Amsterdam. Our room was a little bit quiet and darkable. Bothroom OK. It was enough for couple of days, by spending most of the time outside. Old style TV (no LCD, etc.), few choice of normal channels. Free internet in rooms would be nice.

location is awesome, rooms are fine. they have internet but it's not free in the room, only in the lobby and 30 minutes at a time.

clean room, good location, friendly staff

Visited Amsterdam for 3 days with my partner, upon arrival to our hotel at midnight after a 3 and half hour drive from Calais the staff could not do enough for us. We were given a great room with a lovely view, very spacious witha jacuzzi in our room which we were pleased with. However the heater in the room did not work, bathroom radiator was not working […] the shower door was broken. We had a very restless night sleep to the point where we didnt sleep and got up to have breakfast at 7am which was very average, When we complained we were given a superior room on the 7th floor with a balcony which we were very coimfortable with. In both room however although it was a double bed we were given two single duvets. very strange and made sleeping very uncomfortable. Staff were very friendly and very accomadting and helpful with things to do. The location of the hotel is good for walking distance of 10 mins to Dam Square and Red light district, about 5 mins to Rembrandt Square. All in all a pleasant trip I would definitely visit again, however may stay a bit closer to Dam Square next time, walking in heels wasnt easy. Have a great time. Leer más

A bit old fashioned, but very nice downtown hotel. I had a very big room, clean with ok facilities. I was just missing free wireless internet access in the room and perhaps CNN. Ok price/quality ratio.

The hotel is in the middle of the city, everything is so close that there is no need to take a train, the stuff knows English very well and so helpful. there is safe in the room that open and close with credit card (No charge) clean towels every day. A good location, but this hotel is scuffed and dirty. Curtains, towels, beds, everything is old and worn out. And this hotel is not cheap. Also, the worst internet service I've ever had in a lot of international travel. Could not get a reliable connection, and they charged $25 per night for internet! Go elsewhere.

My friend and I stayed at the NH Carlton for 1 night and wished we could stay longer! It was absolutely beautiful, the service was fantastic, and the location was midway between the station and the Van Gogh museum. Most sights were within 10 minutes walking. 100% recommended!

Great Location, Amazing staff and clean space

Unbeatable location a block form Rembrant Square, next to Flower Market and 15 minute walk to RijksMuseum and Dam Place. Largish room, plenty of closet space. Appreciate the large bathroom towels but the lighting was awful - only high intensity spot beams from cieling casting shadows over one's face - hard for shaving and make up application. Good service […] but always a new face at the front desk. The lobby did not feel much removed from the clamor of the street. The hotel staff was great!!! Really attentive and polite. The hotel is conveniently located. However, the condition of the rooms was a 2 start at most. The furniture and curtains were torn up and outdated. The hotel wasn't worth the rate we paid.

Really enjoyed my 3 night stay here. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful. The downfall is that their breakfast is 15 bucks a day per person which is not worthy.

it was central to everything it was a bit noisy, there was 2 single duvets on a double bed. Drains was stinking on the 2 last day and had to wait for few hours on the first day to check in but at least our bags were stored.

Don't expect much from your room and you won't be deceived. The pictures shown on the web do not match at all the standard room (don't know about hte Deluxe rooms but if I ever go back to NH Carlton I'll hit the Deluxe...) Great hotel, great location.

During our first stay in the forever surprising city of Amsterdam, we found the hotel lobby to be up to par of a four star rating, but the room itself wasn't. The bathroom fixtures had rust around them and old tooth paste was still on the sink from previous visitors. The staff however was pleasant and helpful.

Hotel room's are not clean and needs maintainence, as i stayed in summer, the aircon was noisy....bed not comfortable..no breakfast included in the price and anything you ask, you are directed to 15 Euro extra banner behind them..i was amused by this... Only advantage and value for money is, this place is right in the city centre and all activities […] start from here...very good food places, especially having beer while listening to music at the square also other nice eating joint was an Indian restaurant. Great hotel. Very convenient. In a great city!

We had a fairly good experience at this hotel. We liked that the staff were all good English speakers and that they took the time to explain the lay of the land to us. We did not like the woman who was at the concierge table by the restaurant (the long haired blond woman). She was, without a doubt, the rudest person in Amsterdam. We couldn't figure […] out why she was in that position. She was hostile to us and actually shooed us away from her table. Hopefully she will be fired soon. Also, I left half my spring and summer wardrobe (by accident) in the drawers in the closet in my room and I didn't discover it until I got back to the USA. They are very slow to respond to my email and they still have not assured me that they are sending my things even though I have done everything they asked me to do. Front Desk very helpful. They provided us free internet access in the form of vouchers. We had a superior room which was very large by european standards. We also had an included buffet breakfast which was not the best but adequate. The location is right next to the flower market. There were many restaurant choices within two blocks and the old center […] was only a few blocks away. A canal cruise dock was within two blocks. The hotel is in a wonderful location near the flower mart and about a 15-20 minute walk from the Central Station. The staff was very attentive and helpful, The room was fine with a smallish bathroom. Location is superb. Really appreciate the little amenities like hot water boiler and pants press in the room. Would like to have brighter lighting in the room. The water saving taps in the bathroom are a nuisance, water tend to splatter all over the place.

I booked 2 rooms. I made it clear when we checked in your hotel that our payment will be 2 rooms together and presented a credit card. Although, when we came back at night the next day, the card key was locked. At the front desk, I was told that I haven´t showed a credit card for the extra payment. Great location near the Flower Market with easy access to great shopping. There are plenty of cafes and pubs within a few blocks of the hotel. There is even a grocery store behind the hotel. It's an ideal location for a short or extended stay. The hotel room was large by European standards and had two large French windows that opened for a view of the […] street. very central. i spent a lot of time trying to get the right location for my 3 nights in amsterdam and we were very happy with location and hotel although expensive, it was average for the area

After the initial mixup of the keys to the room, we found the room very small for a standard sized room compared to the rooms available in the hotels in Ireland, so we upgraded straight away for an extra 25 euro a night. which was worth it. Room was located at the back of the hotel so it was very quiet., although a bit stingy with extras such as soap […] for a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was included in the booking fee which was good but very expensive at 20 euro. The staff did greet us each time we entered the hotel and were friendly enough. At check out there was a mix up with the overall bill as we were being charged for breakfast although I said that it had already been included in the booking confirmation. The desk attendent must have been gone for a good 10 minutes and then just said to us that he would check it later, in the end we were not charged anyway. I thought that a bit strange as you would think he would know from the information in the computer. Over all we enjoyed the hotel, very central, and near trams, etc. Didnt eat in the hotel only a drink and were then told that they were closing at 11, it would'nt happen in Ireland. This was a family trip to Amsterdam so we avoided certain areas. The Hotel is within walking distance to shopping, and not that far to the Red Light District. The room was clean and larger than expected. Expect to pay between 40-45 Euro for 24 hours or 4.5 Euro an hour. If you decide to park at the hotel parking you have to check in with the front desk […] and they will open the door for parking. There is a parking garage in the ally next to the hotel which is 45Euro for 24 hours and 4.5 and hour. If you have a large vehicle I would avoid this parking garage because you have to get into an elevator. Over all the hotel was great. Leer más

Good hotel for one night.

Mediocre hotel. Not 4 star - possibly 3. Central location. Decent rooms. Dated furnishings/décor. the price and the location probably comPensate for the lower rate service and amenities. Better for the younger traveller.

Excellent stay, have stayed here before could offer better rates to people regularly staying.

NH Carlton is a nice, centrally located hotel. Easy access to Dam Square, Liedesplein, Rembrandtplein, Rijksmuseum, shopping districts, etc. If you want a "deathly quiet" hotel, then this probably isn't for you. There's some late evening - thru morning noise from the 20-something crowd heading home after a night out boozing it up, but overall for the […] price and location it's great. I will be staying here again. Also, while parking is costly (in my opinion), it's secure and easy to get into/out of. I only sampled the beer selection at the bar (no food), and that selection is VERY limited. If you're looking for some good beers, go elsewhere. If you're just tired after a long day and a lager/pilsner is what you need, then the hotel bar will do. Leer más
