My wife and I chose to spend our 10th wedding anniversary in Chicago at a Bulls game and enjoying the local venues. The stay at the hotel was a very pleasant one as the experience was positive from beginning to end. The hotel staff was very courteous from the second we walked in the door. We stayed for two nights. Hotel is over priced and wasn't worth of the money, especially cause they charged our credit card twice. On new years we had to have wristbands which I think was a little bit overstated. Hotel was very clean and location is perfect. Staff was friendly but upthigh.

This is a great hotel location if you are wanting to shop on Michigan Ave. If not, it's overpriced for the lack of bells and whistles the hotel offers.

Although the hotel itself was great, our neighbors were extremely loud! Partying in the room and keeping our whole family awake from 3-5am! I know that this was not the hotel, but would be nice if there was a way to detect these types of things and stop them, without us having to report them.

Just a about a 5 block walk from Navy Pier! Loved the location and the hotel.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room was kept clean and other than the carpets and drapes, looked clean and fresh. This is not the fanciest hotel but it gets the job done. I have allergies (very allergic to dust mites) and never had a problem. PROS -Friendly staff -Quiet room (1012 on 10th floor) -It is located a few blocks from the mag mile, […] and a short drive to the theater district. -Free printing using the business center. -Held my bags for me after checkout since my flight was much later in the day. -Short walk to a local grocery store ( Dominik's I believe - taste fruits before buying ones I bought were sour) if you would rather put together your own breakfast and not bother with room service. CONS -I wish they would give the option to switch out the mini bar for a fridge (free of charge). I hate the idea of things in my room being on a pressure sensor since I am a bit clumsy. -Would it kill the business to just put some plain $2 bottle water in the room ($6 for water is terrible)! FYI - crystal lite+ sparkle water= soda with no sugar and less than 20calories per serving! -The restaurant food looks really good but lacks taste (If you are of a more eastern persuasion, you might want to ask if they can spice it up a bit) Restaurants I would recommend: Russian Tea Time Chicago Grill (for Halal sandwiches) Don't recommend: The Indian Garden for Lunch (their dinner is hit or miss) Halal food: The Indian Garden Chicago Grill ( located on the forth floor of the Nordstrom building- food court) Leer más

stayed 2 nights. first night was great. everything taken care of. the morning of the 2nd night, first shower had hot water and second did not. did recieve a discount but upsetting. hot water was down for a couple hours

For my first overnight stay in Chicago, I could not have asked for a better hotel. 2 blocks from Michigan Ave. There are was clean and felt safe. The hotel seemed a little dated but I did not plan on staying in the room the whole time so it did not bother me. Really nice hotel!

Great hotel. Only con was we booked two rooms and paid extra for lake views for both rooms. When we arrived we received non lake view rooms! Clearly should not have paid the extra money.

Stayed for 5 nights in December, staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel cost was cheap for how close i was to the centre of town. The food in the resturant was delicious.

There is not a bad thing to say about this hotel or it's staff. This was our second stay here and I will definitely stay again. The staff is extremely friendly, including housekeeping. Location! Location! Location! And of course, nearest & dearest to my heart - CLEAN!!

Pleasantly surprised at the comfortability, cleanliness/newness, of the room and hotel overall. Great location to Michigan Avenue and restaurants. Cost was very reasonable. The Double Tree Hilton is located just off of Michigan Avenue on Magnificent Mile. It is close to many great sites/attractions (if you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk) and close to restaurants, shopping, nightlife, etc. Hotel is more than decent - clean, spacious, and fairly updated (no free wifi in the rooms but had a nice Samsung flat screen tv). The room was very clean. But, the walls were paper thin. A person was yelling in the hallway at 3:00 am and I reported it to guest services. They said the drunken person was given two warnings. I guess the third warning they would have to leave the hotel. It was a shame we had to end our short vacation get away by driving home exhausted.

I didn't stay there, but booked it for family members. They were very pleased. The employees in the lobby and at the concierge desk were extremely friendly and helpful.

The stay was very nice and we enjoyed the hotel and its location. The only thing missing was a lounge chair in addition to the desk chair. We had to sit on the bed to read or watch TV. Everything else was great. Especially liked the staff.

I had a great stay. First Ben(the bellhop) let us park our car outside the hotel so we could get out all of our luggage (we had 4 people staying in the room). Then check in was easy and i also got a warm cookie. Our Luggage was brought up to our room. Ben also helped us get cabs, and even got us a limo for saturday night. Also the wet bar was scale […] sensored at we picked something up,put it right back down and got charged for it. I went downstairs, and the front desk took it right off!. Very nice room close to Navy Pier and walking distance to shopping, restaurants and other locations. Enjoyed my stay very much.

The new pieces of the hotel were great but it still had that old hotel smell. While most of the room had been totallly redone, the 6 coats of paint on the doors, hinges and base board heater still makes it feel not entirely new. Great location for business travel, was attending a conference at the W Lakehore and this room was well over half the price. Staff was very nice.

The location and cleanliness of the hotel was great but I was somewhat unsatisfied with the hotel service for the two times that I had to talk to someone at the front desk. There was a long line with no sense of urgency by the employees or acknowledgment of those having to wait and during check out I don't think the employee even smiled or made a nice […] comment to our party. This hotel is perfectly located between the Mag Mile and Navy Pier (only a few blocks from each). You can walk to Grant and Millenium Park (about 10 min walk) and there are lots of restaurants and bars nearby (I recommend O'Toole's across the street). We had a group of 7 staying and had adjoining rooms which provided the extra space we needed. There […] is no fridge or microwave. There is a single serve coffee machine. The rooms were comfortable and the beds were great. The bathrooms had a lot of storage and counter space. There's a window seat in the rooms where you can look out onto the city. The only complaint we had was the front desk was not very prompt or courteous. We had issues finding a front desk person, or when we did, they did not offer much help with hotel questions. When trying to call the front desk we were always put on hold for about 5 min. These issues may be due to being understaffed. With this being the only complaint, I would highly recommend staying here. There is an Einstein Bagel shop attached to the lobby which makes for a convenient breakfast stop. And don't forget to get your cookie when you check in. They are warm and great after a day of travelling. Leer más

My family and I really enjoyed staying at the DoubleTree. It's one of the few hotels in the Magnificent Mile area that offers two queen beds per room. Most hotels only offer two doubles, or a king with a pull-out. The DoubleTree is right smack dab in the middle of the Magnificent Mile, exactly between Millennium Park, and the John Hancock tower. It's […] also located in a safe neighborhood. You'll enjoy a short walk to world-class shopping and restaurants. There's also a grocery store (Dominick's) across the street, so you can easily pick up any forgotten items or necessities for a decent price; but the hotel also has a gift shop. The worst thing I can say about the DoubleTree is that they didn't have valet parking, and the elevators seemed to take a long time during peak hours (that's a problem that plagues most downtown hotels though). Their complimentary cookies at check-in are pretty bad too. But let's be honest, you don't choose a hotel based on their free cookies. The staff was very warm, inviting, and helpful; and I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who'd like to save a buck, but still be located in the heart and soul of Chicago. It's also a short jaunt to Navy Pier, so that's a positive too. Be aware that you'll often hear police / ambulance sirens in the downtown area since Chicago is so compact; so opt for a higher-up floor to minimize noise. Leer más

This hotel was just perfect! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was great, you could walk anywhere. The service is top notch.

Bring your own pillow. Far and away the worst hotel pillow of all time. Very average and uncomfortable bar area. Great chocolate cookie upon check in.

We loved the location and being able to walk to Navy Pier and Michigan Ave. The staff was very friendly also. One major inconvenience of our stay was the wait for the elevators. We waited on our floor (20) for 10min before we could get down---Elevators made 3 stops on our floor and they were all full already going down.....

Double Tree by Hilton Chicago is a great hotel. I do not understand the paint peeling on the ceiling in our bathroom (maybe they used the wrong type of paint?) and the wallpaper with problems in the same room. We had requested smoking room when we booked seven months prior to trip and then called and they said no problem since we booked before anyone […] else for that time frame. When we got there all smoking rooms were booked and they had no explanation for this at all. But they put us on a low floor which made it really more convenient to go outside. All employees of this hotel were sterling. Hotel is within walking distance of a lot of the things we wanted to see and experience. Surrounded by great restaurants and even a grocery store that sold socks and anything else you could possibly want or need. Great buffet breakfast. Leer más
