Hotel was very clean. Staff was friendly. Great location to walk to area attractions. Would stay here again.
Very clean room - much better than expected with outside entrances; although you entered inside to take elevator to the 4th floor which we stayed on.The room was large with a separate bathroom area which was also very large with a shower that had a lot of water pressure. The staff was friendly, the room was spotless, fantastic view from 3rd floor and the free breakfast was great, everything you could possibly want was there. We will definitely stay here again

"overnight "pitstop""
What we booked as an overnight stayover on our way to Florida turned out to be the most memorable experience of our trip down the east coast. The national memorial center was superb and coaxed us to stay an additional 1/2 day. Hotel was excellent with a very comprehensive continental breakfast. Don & Dot from Maine
"1863 - not the best in winter"
This Inn is fine. I would recommend it unhesitatingly except in the dead of winter. The price was very reasonable and included parking and breakfast so it was hard to beat. Room was clean, the bathrooms very modern; flat screen TVs in all the rooms. Breakfast was simple but OK. My only problem is that it is a multi-story motel so if you need to go to […] the lobby or for breakfast, you leave your room on one of the high floors, go outside and walk to the area of elevator & stairs downstairs. "Gettysburg in Off-Season"
We went to Gettysburg in January, very off-season, so the hotel had a lot of vacancies. We reported a running toilet, and they immediately replaced the assembly which fixed the problem. Breakfast offerings were quite varied and good, although mainly prepackaged. The food area was extremely clean and well stocked. "Very Satisfied!"
Excellent location, walking distance to pretty much everything in town. The room was clean, the continental breakfast had a great selection and was quite good! On our check in, our request to be switched to the floor with the most "activity"'was accommodated, and we were not disappointed!!! Definitely enjoyed the stay, would stay here again!

We enjoyed our time in Gettysburg immensely. We especially loved the tour of the battlefield. The hotel was close to everything as all hotels in town are. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. We had wanted a room with a refrigerator and so booked here on purpose only to find out a room with two double beds doesn't come with a refrigerator and […] it would cost 10 extra dollars a night. I was told to rebook into a room with two king beds if I wanted a refrig or to pay the extra money. I will call first next time to clarify as we needed it for medical reasons. Location of this hotel is ideal. Restaurants and downtown are an easy walk. Hotel is very well kept and pet friendly.Anj excellent choice for anyone to explore the historical areas of Gettysburg.

The one complaint we had about this hotel is that the walls were extremely thin and we could hear everything all night long. People in the hallway and even snoring in the next room. Located right next to Cemetary Hill, in the neighborhood of museums, restaurants, and tours. In 5 minutes we were standing where men fought and died. 15 miniute walk to downtown. Clean facilities, pleasant staff, nice breakfast.

The double bed was only somewhat comfortable, and the pillow was lumpy and too high. I got another pillow and that was better. I thought there was a stain on the bedsheet, but upon closer inspection it was worn in a circle fashion........could not understand that. That sheet should have been thrown away. We stayed here in October 2011 for 3 nights. It's a great little hotel for the price, and perfectly located on the south end of town, just beside Cemetary Hill. While 1863 is not in the "town" square, there are tons of little shops & great restaurants right outside your door. The room was spacious & comfortable, and relatively quiet even though they […] were fairly busy. I can see where it may be a bit noisy in the summertime, but really, what hotel isn't noisy during peak season? The room had a mini fridge, but a microwave would have been divine. Although there was access to a micro in the lobby and dining area. The breakfast left a bit to be desired for those who prefer healthy options. There was some fruit, but mostly white bread/eggos/muffins, cereal, and reheatable biscuits (more white flour) and "omlets." The business center consists of one slow computer, but we did bring a laptop & utilized the wireless in our room, which, while not exactly fast, was sufficient. Overall, we would give the place a B+, maybe even an A, because the price and location were so good and the staff was friendly & helpful. It was close to the visitor's center, a short stroll to Cemetary Hill, and great to be able to walk to dinner & shopping. We would stay here again. Leer más

Overall my husband & I had a great stay there. They used to have a Restaurante there, but they don't anymore. They should reconsider putting back the Restaurante. They also used to have a Bar there, but no more. It's a bit pricy not having those (2) things there, but we had a good time anyway. Great Location! Walk to almost everything. Decent breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly and efficient. They need to upgrade the TV's in the rooms, old tube type so the picture was not very good but for the amount of time we used them (evening's before bed) they were sufficient. We would definitely stay here again.

Room was very clean. Housekeeping was great. Desk clerks were great and very helpful. My only concern was the breakfast area smelled a bit musty so I couldn't eat there. Otherwise would certainly recommend to anyone and would stay there again myself! Great hotel!

My wife and I had just a few days to take a quick vacation. Because of my interest in Civil War history, I wanted to return to Gettysburg. The last time there we were in a hurry. I have always felt I wanted more time at the battlefield. We were also looking for some quality down time. I choose the 1863 because of the reviews written about it. In particular, […] one review, mentioned that the inn was very pet friendly. Another mentioned it has a good location in relation to the battle ground. We found both to be very true. Pet's are very welcome there. The staff always greeted us when we met, and even talked to our dog. No one, including other guests, acted as if dog's were not ok. Location was even more than I expected. The inn is located at the base of Cemetery Hill; easy walking distance to the cemetery. Also, the inn is connected to the southern side of town. We spent the evening walking through the town visiting the many shops and enjoying the historical houses. I would recommend this inn to everyone ineterested in visiting Gettysburg. Leer más

Awesome location. We walked to dinner every night. Very clean, very friendly staff. The beds and bedding could be a little more comfortable, though I realize it's not the hilton or marriott. Would definitely stay again. Breakfast was also good!

The 1863 has seen better days and rates a 2 star rating at best rather than 3 stars. Towels were frayed, rooms facing Baltimore St. were very noisy prior to 6 AM, room smelled strongly of commercial cleaning solutions.. Other than deficiencies noted room was adequate and location was good for a brief visit to Gettysburg.
