We were on the 30th floor and the view was great. We had a view of Stanley Park, the waterfront, the mountains, downtown Vancouver as well as Robson Street. The only problem was there was no hot water in the evening. When I told the front desk on checkout he immediatley called maintenance.

Staying at the Empire Landmark Hotel puts you in close proximity to everything in downtown Vancouver. You can walk anywhere, shop anywhere, and just walk everywhere. The location makes this hotel ideal for tourists. The restaurant at the top is classy and has an amazing view, comparable to the space needle in Seattle. I plan to return to this hotel and recommend it to everyone.

I stayed overnight on my way out and it's a great place to regroup before getting on a plane home. The rooms are big enough to organize luggage and there is the best shiatsu massage place right in the lobby. The gift shop is reasonable as well and the restaurants nearby offer whatever you want. Go up to the rooftop to see the incredible view. The hotel is somewhat campy but comfortable and clean

This hotel is on the edge of downtown, walking distance to Stanley Park and a large selection of restaurants. There is an organic market 1 block away as well! Up the street is shopping and a convenience store for anything you may need while traveling. The parking is extra but convenient, and the top floor is not to be missed, rotating slowly at night to give you a 360'world-view while you either dine in the restaurant or drink in the lounge. Breakfast is not included and pricey but the view is priceless. The beds were comfy and the sheets and towels were clean as was the bathroom. If you're there for a quiet night then ask for a room away from other guests as there is hardly any soundproofing. A good value for the money!

I was on the 31st floor with view (with balcony)of Stanley Park and English Bay, and the price was reasonable. I had no quibbles with the service or cleanliness of the room. However, the soundproofing needs to be improved. I could hear toilets flushing, showers, water running and other "activities" in adjoining rooms. The other complaint is with their depisit requirements. Even though I already paid for the room, they still wanted a $100 (Canadian) deposit for the room, which was authorized on my VISA. They didn't tell me they were doing it. I looked through the papers I was signing and tried asking the desk clerk to see if their was going to be some kind of deposit requirement, but I did not see anything. I found out the next day when I called my bank to check on my balance. I know many hotels reuirement such deposits. I just want to know upfront and how much so I can plan for it. Beware. Otherwise, I enjoyed the exprience, the location is great, and I would recommend it (with the reservations listed above).

We wanted to stay close to all the places we wanted to visit. It was a bit far from Gas town and canada place. However, the hotel room and the price was great so I didnt mind walking a little more. Its a little old, the sink tap in the bathroom soaked my shirt everytime i turned it on :). But over all not bad for the price and location, i would stay here again.

When I booked this hotel, I was not sure what to expect. I didn't want to spend for couple of nights too much and for me is always important the location. It is not a 5* hotel, but price, location and room was really good. If you want to find something simple in the nice location - this would be great choice. me and my boyfriend Both liked this place! If I could find somethig like that in each town we stayed - it would be just amazing!

The hotel location is really good. Directly at Robson Street in Downtown Vancouver and also close to Stanley Park. The view from one of the upper floors is also great. But still the hotel did not meet our expectations. It's quite old and the rooms would need some renovation to get them up to date. The breakfast in the (nice) restaurant on the top floor was also nothing special. If we wouldn't have got coupons for that we would have gone there. Considering what we had to pay for our rooms the hotel didn't meet our expectations. All in all: Next time we would choose another hotel.

The location was a bit further to Granville than I expected but there was definitely plenty to do on Robson. It's also a great central location if you are driving and want to hit the tourist attractions in Stanely Park and on Grouse Mountain. The hotel itself is pretty typical, nothing out of this world, but it works. The views on the other hand are worth the extra couple dollars. Paying the extra for parking at the hotel was definitely worth it.

The location of the hotel is excellent, however they are not up front about additional costs such as 10 dollars a day for a parking pass and 14 dollars a day for access to the wireless internet "provided" by the hotel. The building is also a little dated but the room was comfortable.

This was my 2nd time at this hotel - June 2003 and August 2009. Stayed on the 23rd floor and had a fantastic view of Vancouver. We were given a $10. voucher each to offset the prices in the Cloud 9 restaurant, but since we are not big breakfast eaters, we preferred to eat outside the hotel. There are numerous places to eat within walking distance. Go out of the hotel and turn right to get the most restaurants -- many reasonably priced. The hotel is within walking distance of Stanley Park. Once there, take the $2.00 hop on & off trolley. To get to Grouse Mountain cheaply, there is a free shuttle a few blocks from Empire Landmark to Capilano Bridge, then take the public bus to Grouse Mt. A short taxi ride took us to Canada Place to begin our Alaskan cruise. Hotel is slowly being updated. No free wireless internet - a disappointment.

The staff was friendly, and if you want to check out Stanley Park the location was GREAT... however, we were paying way too much for the quality of the hotel. Everything looked like it was stuck in the 70s. It needed some upgrading for sure! The view from our room was lovely though! I wouldn't stay here next time... probably would spend a little more for a classier place.

I would stay at this hotel again except for the overwhelming smell of bad air freshener in our room. It was so strong that we could taste it. The location near Stanley Park and Robson Street along with the fantastic views from every direction were a definite plus. We were on the 20th floor. We brought our bikes and the location was convenient to both Stanly Park and the seawall bike path to the False Creek/Grandville area. You must have a drink or dinner in the revolving restaurant up 43 stories on top to enjoy the view. There is no cover charge if you are staying a the hotel. The room furnishings. bathroom etc haven't been replaced since the '80s although the bed was comfortable and the duvet covers were new. The room was large too. The service was fine although we mostly had contact with the bell boy to get our bikes out of storage. He was great.

The Empire Landmark Hotel is in a great location along Robson Street in downtown Vancouver. It's an easy walk to downtown shopping, the waterfront, and Stanley Park. The view from the hotel rooms is exceptional. However, the condition of the rooms was disappointing. It appears that the hotel has not been modernized in over 20 years. The colors and furnishings were outdated and worn. When comparing the condition of the room to other similarly priced hotels in the Pacific NW, the Empire Landmark falls very short of memorable.

It's not the most modern of hotels, but at this price, who cares? The best thing about this place (besides the location and the great staff) is the view. We recommend a higher floor. You get a great view of the downtown area, and the surrounding mountains and water.

The hotel was decent, it just did not meet my expectations. It is a worn hotel, with chips and scuffs in the details. It was clean, and it had a fitness room and jacuzzi. We tried the breakfast buffet, and I did not think that the food was that good, and by the time I got to my seat with it, it was tepid at best. My expectations were higher because of the location, and because with the Olympics coming very soon, I would have thought they would be stepping up their game.

One ice machine for 42 floors. They lock the door at 10pm and you have to have security meet you to get ice!! The laundry and ice are in the same room and this is their way of preventing people from doing laundry after 10pm. After the big fireworks event they locked all but one entrance/door. Little quirky not-well-thought management decisions like that impacted the stay. All else was acceptable.

The hotel looked at both tickets and said one was not from the Hotels lot from some other lot. They took care of the one ticket but not the other. The tickets are all done on computer when they when to do the ticket they must not have cleared out the last address. I was staying in Vancouver for a friend's wedding and knew the downtown area well so knew that Robson Street was a good location, 10 minutes walk to English Bay Beach, and less than 5 minutes walk from the shopping district of downtown Vancouver. Parking is easy and seemed secure (though they repeatedly warned me not to leave stuff in the car), though costs a pricey $10 extra per day. The rooms are large though in need of a refresh (but apparently this is underway already), the aircon is marvellous, balconies look out over the City, Mountains & Harbour, Beach or Stanley Park/Lionsgate Bridge. Beds are large and comfy, with an OK bathroom. With a full on refit this place could be an amazing place. 2 issues: 1. front desk is INCREDIBLY slow, be prepared to wait in line for 10 minutes. 2. Internet service is superfast, but costs $14 for a 24 hour period.

I read lots of reviews before going there and was not expecting much. We booked it because of its location and view. We were at 30th floor and the view was spectacular. The hotel is kind of old and room very small but it is clean and cozy. The air condition worked. The ice machine is at 21st floor and closed after 10:30pm. I got my ice from the hotel staff at the lobby. You better set up your wake-up calls before 11:00pm because it took me 10 minutes to set it up after midnight. The restaurant at the top floor does not worth the money. If you have a higher-floor room, it does not add more view. The retaurant only rotates at night and for breakfast, it does not. If you like Chinese food, Hans within one block offers great great food and good price. I wish I had all my meals there. It has been there for 37 years and must did their cookings right.

We choose this hotel for the price. It was one of the cheaper hotels in downtown Vancouver. However, I wish we had spent just a bit more money for something much nicer. The room and entire hotel was very outdated. The bed was not comfortable and the room just had a dirty feel. One plus was that we were on the 24th floor and had a great view of the city. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until they update the hotel and give it a modern feel. It's stuck in the 1970's and looks and feels that way. All the other reviews that say this, too, are right. Spend just a little more money and stay someplace else. I promise you won't regret doing that and can ensure that you will regret staying at this hotel. There weren't many restaurants within walking distance. The hotel's restaurant is very, very expensive, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Stay someplace else.

The Empire Landmark is indeed a hotel that could stand a thorough renovation. Of course that would mean the price would escalate to cover the required costs. The cost can be considered low if in the mid60sUSD for the location but not the condition of a standard room. If you see it more than that, look elsewhere. Add another 10Can/night for parking if you have a car as it is NOT included despite what previous posts may have indicated. The location was good, the staff reasonable and attentive, the views excellent, the bathroom marginal. The area is walkable and most close by is trending toward Asian as is the hotel clientele. This is not the trendy/ritzy part of Robson street if there even is that anymore...
